2 Entry Procedure Arrive on time, greet Mrs. Nelson at the door. Enter room at a walk and go to your seat. Copy your homework in your student agenda. Complete the entry activity for the day. Place any homework or assignments due on the top right corner of your desk. Listen for the teacher signal. Remember this is quiet time. There is no talking or moving about

3 Be Trustworthy: Act in a manner that makes you worth of other’s confidence. Be Truthful: Be honest about things and feelings with oneself and others Be a Good Listener: Listen with your ears, your heart, and your body language. Do Not Put-Down Others: Use words, actions and/or body language that is positive and uplifting. Give Your Personal Best: Give your best under the circumstances and using your available resources. 5 Teacher Attention If I raise my hand, you are to stop talking, face me, and also raise your hand until everyone in the classroom has stopped talking and I lower my hand. NO EXCEPTIONS

6 Pencil Sharpening and Trash Pencil Sharpening a.Students are to sharpen pencils upon entering the classroom b.If your lead breaks during class and if your have no other writing utensil, raise your hand and wait for further instructions. Trash a.Trash will be thrown away when your are dismissed from class. Keep it at your desk until you are dismissed. b.Pick up all paper around your desk before leaving the room.

7 Direct Instruction & Presentations Turn your chair to face the presenter. Use active listening and sit quietly. Talk only when instructed. If speaker allows questions, raise hand to ask. Take notes if requested.

8 Restroom Procedure Ask teacher politely by raising your hand with two fingers up (avoid instructional time) Sign out on the sheet, take the restroom pass. Go directly to the restroom and return to class. Use care and responsibility while out. Sign in when you return.

9 When you finish early procedure Make a selection from one of the following if you complete an assignment before your classmates Read a book of your choose silently. Solve problems from the “20 Questions Choice Board.” Write a “FAQ” card about what we learned in class for someone who is absent. Get started on your homework.

10 Exit Procedure Clean your area Organize your things Reflect on one thing you have learned today (bell doesn’t dismiss you) Wait patiently for dismissal from teacher Say goodbye to others Leave the class in an orderly fashion (walking)

11 Tardy Procedure Walk in quietly making as little noise as possible. Sign-in at the Tardy Log (i.e. name, date, time, reason). Go directly to your assigned seat. Join the activity in progress. Excessive tardiness will result in a consequence.

12 Been absent ? Check the box in the back of the room at the start of class. Check the board for assignments and due dates. Join the activity in progress. If you need to make up a test or quiz, you must make arrangements with me during the last 5 minutes of class. Tests can only be made up during tutoring sessions before school unless your parents have made other arrangements. It is your responsibility to make-up any assignments or tests in a timely manner (according to school policy).

13 Team Work You will be assigned to a learning club. Within your club you will be assigned a duty. For example; facilitator, liaison, reporter, etc. No side-bar conversations during team activities, all team members should be focused on the task at hand. You must contribute to your team.

14 Being Prepared Bring required materials each day. (3-ring binder, loose leaf paper and several pencils)

16 Walking In The Hallways As A Class A.Students are expected to walk in a straight line when in the hallway. B.There will be NO TALKING in line. Other students are still in class. C.All class rules apply in the hallway.
