WELCOME TO 7 TH GRADE! Miss Moss’ Class

Procedures These are some helpful hints that will help us get along together this school year!

Procedures: Before Class  Line up outside before entering the classroom and wait for instructions.  Place all electronic devices in the clear box as you enter. If you do not turn in your electronics, it will be taken away and a parent will have to come pick it up.

Procedures: Before Class  Walk quietly to your seat.  Take out all materials including homework.  If you are tardy, stop by the office and pick-up a late note. Enter the classroom quietly, bring me the tardy slip, and get to your seat without disturbing other students. Take out your materials. If you arrive during morning announcements, please with at the door for them to finish.  During morning announcements you will stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and remain standing for the National Anthem.

Procedures: During Class  To get your attention, I will raise one hand high into the air. Once you see the hand, finish your thought, close your mouth, and raise your hand into the air to help your classmates quiet down too.  If you have a question or comment, please raise a quiet hand and wait for me to call on you.  If you need to get a tissue, you may do so as long as no one is speaking to the class. Move quickly and quietly there and back to your seat.

Procedures: During Class  You may sharpen your pencil without my permission as long as no one is speaking to the class. There should only be one person at a time at each pencil sharpener. If another student is already sharpening his/her pencil, wait patiently for them to finish and then get up and quietly proceed to a sharpener.  If an announcement is made during the day, please stay quiet so that it can be heard and then return to work immediately.

Procedures: During Class  If the teacher is interrupted please wait quietly for her to return.  If there is a visitor in the classroom, please be polite and friendly. If they ask what you are working on, please share with them.  If you need to go or are sent to the office during the day, you will take the hall pass and walk quietly through the halls.

Procedures: During Class  When the fire alarm sounds, walk to the door, line up and wait for the teacher to send you out of the classroom. Leave your things at your desk. Walk to the designated area and wait quietly for further instructions.  If the teacher is suddenly ill, one student should go tell the teacher in the next classroom.

Helpful Hints  Assignments may be completed in pencil, blue or black ink. Please do not use gel pens.  All assignments should be labeled in the top-right-hand corner with your first and last name, the date, and the class period number. Example:First and Last NameDiego Martinez Date7/29/09 PeriodP. 2  Please make sure that you come to class with a pencil. If you do not have a pencil, do not ask me for one. It is your responsibility to come to class prepared. If you don’t have a pencil, you may borrow one from the “Save the Children” cup located next to the electric pencil sharpener. Remember to return to the pencil to the cup after you use it.

Helpful Hints  · If you are absent, the day you return to school you need to have a note from home that states why you were not at school. Bring the note to me when you come into the classroom. The work you missed will be in the folders under the homework chart with a “While You Were Out” note. This will list all of the assignments that you missed and will tell you what day you need to turn the work in. You have two days to make up any work you missed because of an absence.

Helpful Hints  It is your responsibility to use the restroom and get a drink of water before school starts, during passing periods and at lunch. You may have a water bottle at your desk as long as it does not interfere with your learning or any other students.  If you finish an assignment early, you need to find something to do that will not disturb those who are still working. You may read, finish other work, start on homework, or study for tests.

Helpful Hints  You may check books out of the classroom library. The books are marked and sorted by AR level. You can find the level and the points on the inside front cover. Once you select a book, please write your name, the date, your class period, and the title of the book on the Classroom Library Check-Out sheet. When you return the book, place it in the proper place on the shelf and cross it off of the Check-Out sheet.
