Welcome to East Cobb Middle School! ~ Class of 2021 ~ Mrs. Audra Bothers Advanced Math 6 & Accelerated Math 6/7

Just a bit about me…. Take out a sheet of paper. Write down your guess to each question below. When I go over the questions, give yourself 2 points for each question you answered correctly. The person who gets the most points wins a prize! 1)How many years have I taught? 2)What is my favorite subject? 3)What grades are my daughters in this year? 4)What is my birthday? 5)Where did I go to college? 6)What did I want to be when I grew up? 7)I took an online quiz this summer, finding out “Which ‘Frozen’ character I am. Who do you think I got? 8)Do I like to play games? 9)Where is my favorite vacation spot? 10)Where did I meet my husband?

In other words, the rules apply to EVERYONE… this includes YOU!

Entering the Classroom 1) Enter quietly. 2) Sit in your assigned seat. 3) Get out your agenda and pencil, and write down tonight’s homework. Have last night’s homework out on your desk. 4) Begin your warmup.

Handing in Papers  All papers must have your name, date and class period in the top right hand corner. “No-names” will go in the circular file!   Papers must be placed in your class period tray.  All work is expected to be turned in on the due date.  Late work will not receive full credit…10 points will be deducted for everyday late (up to 3 days late)  Always do your very best. Hand in work you take pride in!

Group Work See Group Work poster.

Individual Work Keep eyes on your own paper and complete your OWN work. Your teacher is available to help you whenever needed.

Sharpening Pencils or Borrowing Supplies Sharpen pencils before class begins. If your pencil breaks during class you can either: -use a handheld sharpener -hold your pencil in the air and wait for a signal from your teacher If you are unprepared, you may: - borrow from a friend - use your REP bucks to buy a pencil

Talking and Asking Questions Whenever another person is speaking, you LISTEN! You might learn or hear something! Raise your hand to speak & wait to be called upon. Listen, Learn, Participate

If you have a question during group work or an activity, raise your hand and let the teacher come to you. Be PATIENT! There are more students than teachers. Try to solve the problem within your group or use different strategies to find the answer.

Don‘t let this be you!!

Homework Stars Throughout the year, we will have “Homework Stars” parties for students who turned in EVERY math homework assignment ON TIME! I hope to see you there! Plus, as we all know… practice makes perfect! We need to complete math homework to become proficient with the standards.

VISITORS Students must greet visitors/adults when entering the class. Students will behave appropriately when a visitor, of any kind, is in the classroom.

Getting My Attention Without Interrupting the Class Always raise your hand and wait to be called on. Please refrain from yelling out.

Treat others as you wish to be treated!

Make-up Work Make-up work is YOUR responsibility! Please look in the While You Were Out box any missing assignments and handouts given that day. You may also check the blog.

Substitutes Just remember… ECMS REP!

Restroom Breaks First and last 10 minutes of class are dead time – NO ONE is allowed out of class! You must have all the appropriate passes in order to go. NO AGENDA = NO PASS!

Write down your lunch number in your agenda….so you don’t forget You have only one chance to get everything you need. Once you are seated, you are to stay in your seat until your teacher dismisses you. Make sure you clean up your area. Place your tray in the trash. This is not an option! Lunch Time continued!

Math Lab/Computer Lab Single file line. Hands to yourself. No talking. Be seated at a table and wait for instructions. Raise hand to get teacher’s attention.

Look for ways to be helpful. Treat others the way you want to be treated Be a team player ! Take responsibility for your actions. Believe in yourself!

Dismissing from Class Clean up your area and put your materials away only after you have been given permission. Place all trash inside a garbage can. (Not during instruction). Clean up any trash on the floor and make sure your desks are straight and neat. After you are dismissed BY ME, push your chair under your desk.

This.  That is all.
