Follow directions the first time they are given. 2.) No talking when I am talking 3.) Ask permission before leaving classroom and take the pass 4.) Be respectful of teacher and peers 5.) Follow all KHS rules and procedures 6.) If there is a Guest Teacher what they say goes even if I normally allow it. #youcanventtomewhenireturn 1.) Be in seat ready to work when bell rings. 2.) Complete warm-up each day. 3.) Food and drink are allowed at the center tables. 4.) Throw away your trash. #notyourmaid 5.) Sign in each day. 6.) Maintain a clean and orderly work area 7.) put supplies back when you are done using them. 8.) Bring all of your supplies to class daily. 9.) Complete all of your work and turn it in on time. 10.) Participation is required in class. Expectations 60% 40% Formative Summative Principles of Hospitality and Tourism is weighted 60% for Formative grades and 40% for Summative grades. Grades will be updated each week. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to check Home Access Center on a weekly basis to view the most current grades for EVERY class. Consequences Rules 1. Warning: the teacher provides a verbal reprimand/reminder to student 2. One on One Conference: the teacher and student will discuss behavior. 3. Parent Contact: Parent will be contacted. 4. Referral to Administration: a student will be immediately referred to administration for severe behavior problems.

Principles of Hospitality and Tourism Mrs. Monica Carnahan Room 4704 Principles of Hospitality and Tourism 2019-2020 What will we Learn? Late Work/Absentee Policy 2016-2017 YES, WE DID SOMETHING WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It is the student’s responsibility to check the absence folder for their slip for the missed days work. KHS Make-up policy will be followed for all absences. 1 day absence = 1 day for make-up work Late work will have deductions based on the KHS Policy. Printer and Internet issues are not an excuse for late work. Please do not be afraid to talk to me. Most of the time issues can be resolved if we discuss it first. In Principles of Hospitality and Tourism we will be introduced into an industry that encompasses lodging, travel and tourism, recreation, amusements, attractions and food/beverage operations. You will learn skills focusing on communication, time management, and customer service that meets industry standards. We will use the following methods of instruction: Lecture Note Taking Discussion Circles Hands on Activities Group Collaborations Projects Technology Computers will be used daily in class. The majority of class assignments, projects, and assessments will be completed digitally through Google Classroom. District technology rules apply in the class. Cell Phones Cell Phones may only be used during individual or group assignments that require the use of a cell phone. Phones should be put away during other class times. Rules for phones are as follows: Phones must be on silent. No Pictures or videos unless I have given you permission. #Notreadytogoviralyet Headphones or earbuds must be worn if you wish to listen to music. NO HEADPHONES OR EARBUDS NO MUSIC! You may charge your phone, but it is not Mrs.Carnahan’s responsibility to keep up with it or watch it. If you do charge your phone DO NOT PULL DOWN THE POWER STRIPS THAT THE COMPUTERS ARE CONNECTED TO! Plagiarism Cheating Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment. * The teacher will notify the administration and contact parents if cheating / plagiarism is suspected. * The student will be given a zero for that particular test or assignment.
