3 YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT.
English 8 Mrs. Jeppson 8 Late Work Plagiarism My expectation is that ALL assignments be completed to a level of proficiency (70% or higher) and turned in on time. If an assignment is turned in but proficiency is not demonstrated, the assignment will be returned to the student and the work must be completed / redone until proficiency is achieved. Missing work will be accepted (for a reduced grade) until the end of the unit in which it was assigned. After that time, assignments will receive a zero in the gradebook. Printer, Internet, and flash drive issues are not an excuse for late work. Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes... turning in another’s work as one’s own copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) including a source but failing to cite it copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment. 1 2 3 4 Absent YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It is the student’s responsibility to check with the teacher to find out what was missed. A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Cheating Technology The teacher will notify the administration and contact parents if cheating / plagiarism is suspected. The student will be given a ZERO for that particular test or assignment. Chromebooks will be used frequently in Language Arts. The majority of class assignments, projects, and assessments will be completed digitally through using Google docs. Each student has access to a Google account for school use, and instructions will be given to obtain this address/password. Students are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. Failure to do so will result in said student being banned from technology while in class. Sign up for text messages from Mrs. Jeppson through the REMIND app! to for regular updates on class assignments and due dates.
