Bellringer, April 8 Complete the blanks in the following sentence with “boxed” words from ch. 2 vocabulary: Because it was a __________________ occasion, I knew I needed to be ________________ about anything I said. In fact, all talking was in hushed tones and no one dared speak in a ______________ voice. Turn in last week’s Bellringer page to the tray.

This week: We will finish our notes from the PowerPoints; all PowerPoints will be loaded to the website page at dhswolves.com if you miss any days or categories for notes; formative grade on notes when completed You have this week to make up work from Friday: paragraph or story on Ch. 2 vocab. Words (use at least 10 and highlight them) Quiz on Friday of Ch. 1 and Ch. 2 “boxed” vocab words (formative grade)

Activity, 4/8-4/10 Complete notes on 1920’s

Bellringer, 4/9 Check out a computer and go to the following URL (you should find it in the URL history): https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/80598/16941 When you have completed the survey, sign out of your computer and bring it to me with your Bellringer Form; I will stamp your form while you put the computer away.

Announcement I have printed off random copies of Personal Narratives to post on the bulletin board. If you have a problem with me posting yours, please let me know.

Bellringer, 4/10 Write the sentence, placing these words in the blanks where they should go: anemic vitality incessant When I walked into the hospital room, I was aware of the ________ beep of all the monitors connected to him. He looked so ______; not the person I remembered, with such __________ and love of life.

Bellringer, 4/11 Write down the name(s) of someone in your junior class that you consider to be a leader at Deltona High—someone who is involved enough in school activities and shows he/she cares about the school. Name someone(s) that you would like to represent you when it comes to discussing school needs or changes.

Prepare for Bingo Using the blank printing paper I gave you: 1) Fold hamburger once, then fold hot dog 2) Cut at all the folds; this will give you 4 strips of paper 3) Cut those strips into 5 squares 4) Number each square 1-20 Get out the Bingo Board you made with Ch. 1 and Ch. 2 words. (If you have no board, make one quickly. Fold paper into 9 squares; put words from Ch. 1 on one side and words from Ch. 2 on the other side. On each side, write the Ch. # and your name in the middle square (free space)

Playing the game: No writing utensils allowed on desk. You may have your vocab. packet only. I will show clues on the screen, one at a time. If the answer to the clue is written on your board, place the number of the clue on that word. When you have a straight horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line of covered words, yell Bingo. I will ask you to give me the number and the word in your line. If you are correct, you get the prize. If not, we keep playing until someone else gets a correct Bingo.

Bellringer, 4/12 Get a piece of notebook paper and place your name, class period, and “Vocab. Quiz, Ch. 1 and 2” at the top of the page. On the first line, write “Quiz ________” On the lines below that, number from 1 to 12 Then clear your desk of everything but your writing utensil (NO phones, backpacks, or other papers on desks or laps)

Quiz on Ch. 1-2 Gatsby Vocabulary Be sure to label your answer sheet with Quiz A or B When you are finished, put your answer sheet in the tray and place your test in the appropriate pile on the table If you were allowed makeup time on your 1920’s notes, hand them to me today; if they are not finished, it is best to turn in what you have; I will not accept late work on these notes

Receive Handouts for Formatives on Character Analysis and for Essay assignment Write in name of assigned character at top of each page of notes Keep these in your folder to use each day while we read aloud Have them ready to turn in when we have finished reading that section Keep up with adding textual evidence as we read together
