1 Welcome to sixth grade! 08/09/2019
Beginning of Class Procedures: DO NOT BRING YOUR BACKPACK UNTIL YOU GET YOUR LOCKER. You’ll get a locker next week of school, IF I have informed you I have received all of your paperwork. Go get your breakfast NOW. Do not wait. Breakfast is over at 9:15. First period will begin immediately after announcements. If you are not eating, you must read something of your choice. Help yourself to the books on the bookshelf. HOMEROOM = SILENCE

2 Language Arts – Warm Up 08/09/19
First, turn in any parent homework and/or “All About Me” letters you have to your class’s period homework bin. Then, get out all necessary materials (as listed on the dry erase board) and clear your desk of any other items. We will work step-by-step together today using the document camera, so BE READY when I enter the room. If you did not finish your page numbers, your alphabet pages and/or your first tabbed section, work on those items now.

3 Language Arts – Work Session 08/09/19
Essential Question: How can following step-by-step instructions set up my future to be successful? Standard: ELACC6W4 - Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

4 Language Arts – Closing Session 08/09/19
I.A.N. Setup Follow along with our step-by-step instructions as demonstrated on the document camera. Raise your hand if you need additional assistance.

5 Language Arts – Closing Session 08/09/19
Bin Check One person takes all of the I.A.N.’s and places them on the bookshelf. Another person empties the mini. trash can. One other person checks the green list for all items in your bin. Be sure that the lids are securely fastened on your highlighters and glue sticks!

6 The Daily 5 Language Arts – E.L.T. 08/09/19
You will need your notebook every day. We will complete at least 3 of the 5 every day. Must Do: Reading Writing Pick One: Word Work Read to Someone Listen to Reading

7 The Daily 5 E.L.T. Notebook Language Arts – E.L.T. 08/09/19
We will section our E.L.T. notebooks into these 3 sections using Post-Its: Reading (pages 1-26) (Red Post-It) Includes: Read to Self Read to Someone Listen to Reading Writing (pages 27-50) (Chartreuse Post-It) Word Work (pages 51-end) (Purple Post-It)

8 Reading Language Arts – E.L.T. 08/09/19 Read a book of your choice.
When you finish the book, see me to complete your book recommendation form. You must read at least 3 books this nine weeks and complete the corresponding book recommendation. You will have time in class to read, but you could also read on your own, too. You may certainly read more to earn more points!

9 Writing (Must Complete 3 Per Week)
Language Arts – E.L.T. 08/09/19 Writing (Must Complete 3 Per Week) Choose one of the following topics and write at least one paragraph (5 complete sentences) about it. If you could become a cartoon character who would you be?  Why? What would you do? If you could change 3 things about school, what would you change? What would you do instead? If you could only have a computer OR a TV, which would you pick?  Why? What do you think makes the best lunch?  Why? If you could do whatever you wanted right now, what would you do? Free write about a topic of your choice.

Choose one of the following options to complete: Word Work – Must Do Once Per Week - See me for the work Read to someone Listen to reading Remember, if you are disruptive during this time, I will choose the work for you.
