Editing Practice Directions: Using your editing marks, correct the 20 capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and usage errors in the passage below. Remember that multiple corrections to one word only account for one error. my friends and me doesn’t enjoy the school lunchroom food. We are required too put a fruit and a vegatable on our trey, even if we do not like those perticuler foods. All the breads and pastas are made of whole grains which is better for us but do not taste as good as the kind us eat at home. Because we do not prefer the lunchroom foods to snacks we usually end up eating donuts chips and chocolote milk instead. Some days we chose not to eat much of anything throw away our trays of food and gorge ourself on Takis and cookies once were home.

In preparation for argumentative writing, you will soon be participating in a socratic seminar in class. To review the principles of Respectful Academic Talk, number 1-5 in your composition notebook and answer the following questions as either “True” or “False”: 1. You can “hog” a conversation. 2. Shouting at each other is an appropriate way to disagree. 3. Turning and facing someone, smiling, and nodding are all appropriate ways to disagree. 4. You can have side conversations with the person next to you while someone else is speaking. 5. Asking someone “How do you know that is the correct answer?” is an acceptable question to ask someone when you want clarification on a topic.
