We will review the lesson as a class first. As I give you the practice sheet, do not turn it over until I say “Go.” I will then give you 2 minutes to complete as many questions as possible. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WRITE THE SENTENCES FOR PART C! The top three people with the most CORRECT answers will get a piece of candy! We will go over them all together as a class. Write what you believe is a good definition of a myth. Myth: a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events. traditional stories or legends collectively: a widely held but false belief or idea

8 Quickwrite Write this question and answer it on a separate sheet of paper. Once you are done, put it in your writing response section in front of Chapters 1&2: Have you ever felt like running away and never coming back? Why, or why not?

9 Maniac Magee Ch. 1&2 As I read aloud chapters 1 and 2, you complete the first five comprehension questions. If you notice any figurative language, be sure to note it in the chart. After reading, check your answers with your group. With your group, fill in the map of events. Also with your group, complete the prediction at the bottom. 10 Maniac Magee Ch. 1&2 On your own and silently, come up with good chapter titles for chapters one and two. Write them down on the Chapter Titles sheet. With your group, sum up the chapter in your own words. We will then discuss as a class and fill in the chapter charts.
