Today’s Agenda Homework is out on the corner of your desk, 10/28/16 ACTIVATOR: Homework is out on the corner of your desk, copy down tonight’s homework. 3. Activator: Get a new math packet and take out your notebook. In your notebook put today’s date in the corner, and Activator on the first line. Answer: Diet cola was on sale last week. It cost $10 for every 4 packs of cola. How much money do 2 packs of diet cola cost?

Today’s Objective(s): I will be able to identify the associate rate of a given ratio. I will also be able to calculate the unit rate and determine the rate unit of a given ratio. I will demonstrate my understanding by independently completing at least 4 levels. 6.RP.A.2

Language Objective Unite rate, comparative ratio, ratio table By the end of the lesson, I will be able to use all four language domains of listening, speaking, reading and reading to communicate and to identify the associate rate of a given ratio. I will also be able to calculate the unit rate and determine the rate unit of a given ratio and communicate it clearly. I will communicate academic math language of ratios as well as determine my understanding by completing at least 4 problems independently. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: Unite rate, comparative ratio, ratio table

A quantity that describes a ratio relationship between two types of quantities. Rate When a rate is written as a measurement, the unit rate is the measure (the number) Ex. 15 miles per hour, 15 is the unit rate, and miles per hour is the unit of measurement. Unit Rate Without looking back at the description, what is the chart about? Based on the survey, should the company order more pink fabric or more orange fabric? What is the ratio of the number of bolts of pink fabric to number of bolts of orange fabric you think the company should order? Someone said 5 to 3 and my friend said 3 to 5. Are those the same? Is a ratio of 3 to 5 the same as a ratio of 5 to 3? Remember, the ordering of the words in the description of the ratio relationship is what determines the order of the numbers in the ratio.

I can use my class examples to help Everyone independently start on LEVEL 1. When done, come see a teacher. If correct, teacher will ask to move to the next level. Our goal, complete at least 4 of the level worksheets.

Exit Ticket: Answer in agenda or notebook. Homework: pg. 75 Angela enjoys swimming and often swims at a steady pace to burn calories. At this pace, Angela can swim 120 meters in 4 minutes. a. What is Angela’s unit rate? b. What is the rate unit?
