Name of project Name of work Term Working at level Working towards level Target 1 (T1) Target 2 (T2) Celebrations Mixed media mask Spring /summer Mask design sheet Spring /summer

Connector : What makes a good mask design? MOST Place the sentences In order with most important at the top and least important at the bottom: Mask is accurately and neatly drawn The shape of the mask is interesting, not simple because ideas from different mask have been used and mixed together. Mask shows a clear, exaggerated expression like happy, sad shocked etc Mask takes lots of patterns and details from different cultural masks not just one so design is unusual and unique Mask has lots of annotation explaining where ideas have come from LEAST Connector: Card sort. Teacher to reveal at end that all equally important

Learning outcomes All will assess their work at the current stage and give their work a level All will understand what they need to do to improve their work and write an appropriate target on their folder. Most will begin to create a more developed 2nd design by aiming to meet their target Some will complete their 2nd design and begin to add colour and tone Learning outcomes. Pupils to read out .

Big picture Look at examples of others’ mask designs and discuss them Compare own work to others. Level own work and decide on a target. Begin 2nd design aiming to achieve target. Review: Peer assess each others work to see if your partner has met their target Big Picture: Activities for the lesson listed in order

Targets Make the artist/cultures I have selected from more clear. Make the facial expression I have chosen more clear by exaggerating the features. Use a variety of patterns from different cultures to decorate my design. Make sure all areas of my drawing are neat and accurate. Add notes and labels explaining my ideas. Add colour and tone to the mask designs. Y band ( SEN and EAL) pupils to select a model target based on what they think is an area they need to develop. X band ( high ability pupils) will be asked to write their own target.

Key words (recap) Annotate Add notes/labels to work explaining your ideas Evaluate To judge a piece of work, by identifying its good points and areas which could be improved Develop and Refine To make small but important changes Key words Recap. Pupils reminded about keywords important at this stage of the project.

Final review Is their drawing accurate? Is the facial expression on their mask clear? Are the artist/cultures they have looked obvious to you? Have they shown a variety of patterns from different cultures on their design? Have they annotated their ideas? Have they begun to add colour and tone to one of their designs? Structured review. Pupils will mark each others work by formally deciding how well they have met criteria for mask design. Pupils will then give a target based on an areas where partner scored 1 or 0.

Final review targets Make your mask drawing more neat and accurate Make the facial expression more clear by exaggerating the features. Make sure the artist and cultures you have used are more clear.
