Connector : Key words Incise Is it: a)To cut or ‘scratch out’ the surface of something carefully with a sharp tool b) To measure the size of your clay pot

Big picture 10 mins to complete 1 st design drawing 5 mins to annotate 1 st design Evaluate 1 st design using frame Begin 2 nd design after refining your ideas Annotate Add colour

Learning outcomes All will complete their 1 st design and evaluate it All will select areas they would like to be in relief and areas they will incise All will begin their 2 nd design Most create their 2 nd design by mixing ideas from artist they have looked at, cultural pots and other natural forms Most will make improvements in their second design after evaluating their 1 st Some will begin to add colour to both designs

Task 1 RECAP: What does relief mean? Look back at your 1 st design Using arrows point to at least two areas you would like to be in relief Now select and using arrows point to 2 areas you would like to incise A method of raising shapes above a flat surface so that they appear to stand out slightly from it.

Designing a Vessel

Tasks 1.Complete 1 st design 2.Using labels and arrows annotate where the shape of your pot is from, where you textures are from and patterns are from. 3.Using labels and arrows annotate which 2 areas you want to INCISE and which 2 areas you want to be in RELIEF. 4.Complete evaluation using the frame on the board 5.Begin a more refined 2 nd design remembering to still add annotations

Annotation and evaluating your work 1.The shape of my pot has been influenced by ……… I chose it because…………… 2. To decorate my pot I have drawn images of………… because ………… 3.The best part of my design is………… because…………. 4.I could improve the design by………… 5.The target I was set for improvement was to………….. I have achieved this by……..

Task 2 Begin your 2 nd design MAKING SURE to take steps to achieve the last target you were set Review your ideas and think to yourself will that work in clay? Take all the best parts from your 1 st design Make sure your drawing is more accurate Make sure annotations are clear

Review 2 nd design 1.Have they noticeably worked harder to achieve the target you set them in the last lesson? 2.Can you tell what they have been inspired by? 3.Is the artist they have looked obvious to you? 4.Have they shown at least two different kinds of texture in their design ? 5.Is their drawing accurate? 6.Have they annotated their ideas? 7.Have they added colour ands tone to one of their designs?

Targets 1.Make sure you work harder to achieve your last set target 2.Make sure the natural forms theme is clear in your work 3.Make sure you can identify which artists have inspired your design 4.Make sure you show at least two kinds of texture in your design 5.Take more care to make your drawing accurate 6.Use more annotation to explain your ideas 7.Add accurate colour and areas of tone to your designs
