Text & Materials Biology Manual (will be handed out at beginning of semester) Biology Textbook – online edition, codes will be given out later 3 Ring Binder (at least 1 ½ in.), notebook, notebook paper, pen, pencil, highlighters, colored pencils, paper towels, tissues

Description: scientific inquiry cell structure/function photosynthesis, respiration mitosis, meiosis Genetics protein synthesis evolution Classification Plants animals ecology human impact on the environment.

Expectations: Be prepared and on time. Take seat upon entering classroom; Complete bell ringer, read agenda, take out materials and prepare for the lesson. Tardy Policy as outlined in handbook Must be across the door threshold when the bell is done ringing. See hall monitor at front of the hallway to get a pass to enter class Respect and cooperate with other and their property. Participate! Ask Questions! Think! Obey all safety regulations and precautions. Leave the room as you found it/clean up after yourself Mrs. Donahue will dismiss the class; not the bell. Remain in seat and do not pack up early.

Follow all policies and procedures of Butler High School and CMS Refrain from use of cell phones/electronic devices unless instructed by Mrs. Donahue Cheating/Plagiarism is prohibited and violates the rules of honesty and Honor Codes Stay for tutoring if you are finding material difficult or challenging Practice appropriate classroom behavior: Maintain a positive learning experience for yourself and classroom. Students will remain on task, raise hand, and stay seated unless otherwise instructed. When a student’s behavior interferes with teaching learning or another’s personal rights the discipline procedure as outlined in the student handbook will be followed as well as parent notification. Good behaviors have good consequences, bad behaviors have bad consequences – You make the choice!

Absence It is the students’ responsibility to make up any work missed due to an absence or absences. All assignments are posted daily on the website which should be utilized to keep up to date with the class. An absence is any time a student is not physically present in the classroom. Students are given 5 Calendar days to make up work. If absent for test or quiz make arrangements with Mrs. Donahue for a make up. Excessive absences (10 or more) results in a failing grade for course unless recovery time is completed.

Evaluation: Powerschool: If you forgot or did not receive a code please call the main office. Printed progress reports will be printed out and sent home periodically throughout the semester. Assignments and homework are due at the beginning of class on the day it is due. Any work after will be considered late and will be deducted 10% for each day late. Test and Quiz dates are posted in the classroom as well as on the website. All quizzes will be announced at least one day prior and tests dates will be announced at least one week prior. Students will also be given the opportunity to retest if they scored below a 79. A student may receive up to an 80 for a retest. This is required to be completed within 7 calendar days.

Bathroom Policy Bathroom use should be limited during work time not instructional time. Students have Five bathroom passes for the quarter. Any bathroom use after that will be recorded and require time to be made up before, after, or during lunch. Every extra bathroom use is 15 minutes worth of time. Time that is not made up will result in teacher assigned ASD. Any passes remaining can be used for extra credit. Passes will also be entered in an end of quarter raffle drawing for prizes. No passes at the end of the semester no chance for the prize 
