There will be NO pencil sharpening. PLEASE participate I love to hear your questions and comments but remember to be polite and wait your turn. Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion If your question is off topic, write it down and ask me at the end of class.

9 At the end of every class...
Please do not pack your stuff until I have instructed you to do so. Make sure you clean up around your desk. Throw any paper or garbage out as you leave the room. I dismiss you, not the bell!!

10 Class Sharpener The sharpener is available for use with pencils only, no crayons or colored pencils are allowed. You may only sharpen your pencil before class starts, or after the discussion has occurred and students are at work.

11 Bathroom Use You may NOT use the restroom in the first 15 minutes of class or the last 15 minutes of class. Bathrooms are for emergencies ONLY. If you want water, you may bring a water bottle to my classroom. Starting September 5th, each student will have two bathroom passes for each nine weeks (unless in the case of a medical condition, which should be evidenced by a doctor’s note).

12 Summer Assignment You were given a summer assignment.
Assignment due 9/5 (A) and 9/6 (B). It will count for two grades and there is a Divisibility Rules quiz that goes with it. If you have not done it, or need a copy, there can be one found on my website at matermiddlehigh.org.

13 How will you be graded? A = 100 - 90% Tests: 40%
Several methods of assessments will be given such as notebook check, quizzes, exams, projects, class work, home learning, iXL mastered skills, and participation. Students are expected to complete all assignments within the given time period. Please be aware that incompletion of an assignment will result in a letter grade “Z”, which is equivalent to an “F”. A = % Tests: 40% B = % Quizzes: 30% C = % Classwork: 20% D = % Home learning: 10% F = % *All assignments that are done in pen or are incomplete will automatically receive at least a one letter grade deduction. ** Work format (see Handout) will count towards assignment final grade.

14 Assignments and Home Learning
You will have homework every day. Homework is due the following class unless noted otherwise. HOMEWORK IS MANDATORY! I will not accept any late work. Exception : Excused absences. If you have an excused absence you have one week to make up your work. Extra Credit : I DO NOT give extra credit.

15 If you are absent... Work completed without an absence being excused will receive a Z until the absence is excused. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for any work missed. Make- up work should be completed in the same amount of time that is missed. This is to say, if you miss class once, all work should be made up the next class. If you miss two days, work should be made up within two days, etc. If the excused absence involves several days, schedules can be arranged to make up the work.
