Presentation transcript:

History and English Casey Keith GRADES: I will not give any assignments in which the students are not prepared, but rigor will be very present in all assignments. Come prepared to work hard every single day. The biggest problem I have had in the past is students not turning in work. This will not be tolerated. Late work will be penalized. One day late will receive no higher than a 70 (30 Points off). Work two days late will receive no higher than a 50 (50 Points off). Work submitted after two days past a due date will receive a zero and will not be accepted. On time work that is failed can be made up for a grade up to a 70. If a test is failed it can be retaken for a grade up to a 70. I expect work to be done right the first time it is offered. Tests/major essays (2 per six weeks) will count for 40% of your average. Daily grades (10 per six weeks) will count for 60%. If you are absent, you will be responsible for making up your work. You will have one extra day to complete your assignment or late points will be deducted. Get your work in ON TIME. You can very quickly create a hole that is almost impossible to climb out of by accumulating late work penalties. History and English I am so excited I get to teach History and English this year! Here are a few things you need to know about my class: CELL PHONES: I believe cell phones can be an asset in peoples’ lives, but there is a time and a place. Cell phones are very distracting in class. I deserve 45 minutes of your time and you deserve 45 minutes of mine. Cell phones will not be allowed in classes at the Junior High. If you are caught with your cell phone it will be sent to the office. I am using this paper as a grade. Please have your parent/guardian sign this and turn it in. Get it in on time and you will get a 100 for History and for English. If it is not turned in on time the late grades will count according to my grading policy. DISRUPTIONS: Disruptions will be handled swiftly.  Most things, I can manage in class without any outside support.  If disruptions continue and you will not behave, there are a couple of things that will happen: The first offense - lunch detention.  The second offense - you will be sent to the office to sit, and your parent will be contacted.  If this does not stop continued repeated offenses it will be an issue for the office to handle.  Email is my preferred form of communication. I will email you with any concerns I have. Please feel free to email me as well. Parent email:_____________________________ MANNERS: We live in an age where manners are not emphasized. I expect manners from all my students and will work hard to be the example of what I expect. Be kind to your classmates. Respect all people in the class: students, teachers, substitutes. Be good to people, no matter how they treat you. It’s the only way the world will become a better place.
