Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School COURSE SELECTION REVIEW

COURSE REQUEST SHEET This sheet shows the courses that you are enrolled to take next year. This is YOUR OPPORTUNITY to let us know if you want to change a class. You may make changes such as: Change from AP/Pre AP/DC to a regular class; or Change a elective to another elective; etc. PLEASE REMEMBER YOU MUST HAVE ONE CLASS OF ENGLISH/LANG ARTS; MATH; SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES (Seniors: Your Social Studies is one semester of Government and one semester of Economics)!

COURSE SELECTION SHEETS This is the sheet that lists all the courses that are offered to your grade level (back and front of page). You may use this sheet to look at the various courses that are offered if you wish to change classes (electives). Please note that if you are in a program of study, the correct class in the sequence is listed on your course requests.

Transcript This is a sample transcript Transcript This is a sample transcript. Use this transcript (or log onto Focus for the same information)to determine classes you will still need or classes that you have failed that you need to make up. Counselors will NOT put you in WEB classes unless it is absolutely necessary. If you have too many classes to make up, you should see your counselor about attending summer school. We should have information about summer school on April 28th. If you are interested in SUMMER WEB CLASSES, see your Counselor as soon as possible (TODAY)!

Things to remember… “AB” listed next to a course means 2 semesters. “A” is first semester and “B” is second semester. For Example: APChem AB means that AP Chemistry is a full year class… The “A” means first semester and the “B” means second semester. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “T” listed next to a course means it is only offered one semester (either first semester OR second semester). For example: AP Chem T (This is a LAB that is only offered one semester); AP Science Lab classes are required. In addition, some electives are only offered one semester such as: Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness, Sociology, Psychology, and Equine Science. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE KNOW THAT WHAT IS CURRENTLY ON YOUR COURSE REQUESTS IS THE EXACT NUMBER OF CLASSES YOU NEED FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.

For Example: This student does NOT want to take AP Chem For Example: This student does NOT want to take AP Chem. This student can cross out AP Chem AB and the AP ChemT class (which is the one semester lab) and then write what he wants on the bottom of the page. PLEASE REMEMBER TO HAVE 8 TOTAL CLASSES FOR EACH SEMESTER. This student will need to add another science class for the entire year (AB semesters) and another semester class (T semester) in order to have enough classes. Please drop AP Chem and AP Chem T and Add Anatomy and Ap Psychology Signed: student

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: That will affect your ability to graduate ON TIME! If you FAILED all or part of ALGEBRA 1, you will not be allowed to take ANY OTHER math class until you pass it (even if you pass the EOC exam). (REMEMBER YOU NEED 4 MATH CLASSES TO GRADUATE)! You CANNOT take Chemistry until you pass Algebra I and the freshman science class. If you FAILED all or part of GEOMETRY, you will not be allowed to take ANY OTHER math class until you pass it! If you FAILED any part of English I, II or III, you will not be allowed to take English 4 (Senior English) which you MUST have to graduate! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ **** If you find yourself in any situation mentioned above, or you are behind on credits, you must see your counselor to sign up for summer school, summer web or have an alternative plan so that you can still graduate on time! Also, see Mr. Zachry AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to sign up for attendance recovery!

CHANGES TO SCHEDULE You may have the following classes on your course requests BUT since these requests were printed we have had to make changes in what we have to offer. SO…. If you have the following classes showing on your course request list, you should cross them out and pick something you would like to take! Environmental Systems (4th Science) will NOT be offered. AP Environmental Science (4th Science) will also NOT be offered. Regular Psychology will NOT be offered. Dual Credit Psychology and AP Psychology WILL still be offered next year.

PLEASE REMEMBER: You MUST make any changes you are requesting on your sheet. You MUST turn in all sheets to your teacher to return to us so we can look at your requests. You MUST SIGN IT somewhere on the course request sheet to show you approved the changes you are requesting. IF YOU DO NOT TURN IT IN OR SIGN IT, WE WILL NOT EVEN CONSIDER MAKING THE CHANGES TO YOUR SCHEDULE SELECTIONS. The Master Schedule is based on the courses YOU CHOOSE, if we do not have the courses you want listed on your course requests, there may not be any room to add you to the class later. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF ALL CHANGES NOW so that you can be happy with your schedule. 2017-18 SENIORS: you may request to be a teacher/office assistant but those spots will not be filled until the summer based on student performance/attendance.

SEE YOUR COUNSELOR IF YOU STILL HAVE QUESTIONS!
