4 Prerequisite : Required or necessary as a prior condition Please notice the bold prerequisite indicated under each course description Example: English III (required) Michigan Merit Exam in English Language Arts. Prerequisite: English I and II Be Sure and Check Prerequisites for Each Course

5 Students select courses to reflect their range of understanding, abilities, and/or learning style differences. We requires teacher recommendations for several courses and encourage you to conference with your current teachers for the right choice for you. Example: YEARBOOK requires permission from Mrs. Gardner Course Levels

6  You must pass each core class in order to move to the next class.  Advanced Placement: Most challenging courses at HCHS, college level. Course Levels

7 Post-Secondary Planning  College admission officers want to see a solid foundation of learning that you can build on in college.  To ready yourself for college-level work, enroll in challenging high school courses, such as AP courses.  Consider your strengths and interests and enroll in classes to help develop your marketable skills.

8 High School Classes Colleges Look For…  English: Challenge yourself to improve your writing, reading comprehension and vocabulary.  Math: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre Calculus  Science: Colleges prefer 4 years of Science.  Foreign Languages: A solid foreign language study shows you are willing to stretch beyond the basics.

17 Dual Enrollment  Students may take college courses for college credit  Meet with your counselor if you are interested in taking college courses  HC will pay for class and fees  Student pays for books  If you drop the course after drop date, student pays for class  Registration for KCC opens in May

18 Dual Enrollment  Classes you take must not be offered at HC during that semester  Paperwork for Dual Enrollment located in guidance office  You need to register for 10 classes at Harper and counselor will drop and add KCC to your schedule when you are registered for the class

19 Calhoun Area Career Center Students interested in attending the CACC please pick up the form before leaving today.

20 E 20/20 Be sure to review your transcript. If you need make up a credit so you can graduate on time before sure to sign up to see your counselor for E 20/20 information. Each E 20/20 class is $75.00
