Welcome to 8 th Grade Language Arts Mrs. Stephanie Wishart Room #802

Classroom Expectations Classroom expectations are posted on the wall and will remain there for the entire school year, so you do not forget them. In addition, I expect every student to demonstrate the Character Counts Pillars: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness, Trustworthiness, and Citizenship.

Classroom Procedures Please come to class each day, prepared with all of your materials. Immediately begin the warm-up, which will be posted on the board. Each day, there will be a grammar lesson and a writing lesson. Please do your best to remain focused and on task throughout the class period. You will be assessed each day. Please wait for the direction to pack up at the end of the period, before doing so. Please clean up after yourself. 5 th period is expected to put the chairs up every day.

Materials Please bring these materials to class with you every day: Chromebook Earbuds Pencils Pens Colored Pencils Binder (one section) Notebook Paper

Turning in Assignments Electronic assignments will be submitted on Google Classroom. Please be sure to share your documents when submitting them. Paper assignments will be turned into the bins labeled for each class period.

Homework “Homework” will not be assigned. However, you may need to complete classwork at home, if you weren’t able to complete it in class. You are expected to spend time outside of class to prepare for quizzes. In addition, you may be asked to print documents at home, if you have printer access.

Restroom/Water Fountain Procedures Do you best to wait until I am not giving direct instruction, and then ask for permission to use the restroom. After I have given you permission, please sign out on the sign out sheet and take a bathroom pass with you to use the restroom. Go straight to the bathroom and return to the classroom immediately after using the bathroom. Sign in when you return. ONE student may use the bathroom at a time. If you have an emergency, you may leave the classroom to use the restroom without permission. I will, more than likely, send someone to check on you.

Nurse Procedures If you aren’t feeling well and would like to visit the nurse, please let me know and I will write a pass for you.

Locker Procedures I expect you to be prepared for class every day. However, if you need to go to your locker, please ask for permission. Please sign out and take a pass with you, before going to your locker. Sign in when you return. Go straight to your locker, get what you need, and return to class.

Borrowing Materials Again, I expect you to be prepared for class. However, if you need something, there are materials in the back of the room for your use. You may borrow these items at anytime. PLEASE RETURN ALL BORROWED MATERIALS. If materials aren’t returned, I will not replenish them. Once they are gone, they are gone! DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING OFF OF MY DESK, WITHOUT PERMISSION!!!!!

If you are absent… If you are absent, please check my webpage to find out what you missed. If you have questions about assignments, please see me.
