Welcome to 4 th Grade! Mrs. Benedetto – ELA and Science

Meet Mrs. Benedetto This will be my 10 th year of teaching! I have two children: my daughter is in 5 th grade, and my son is in 2 nd grade. I love so many things: singing, creating, developing curriculum, playing softball, traveling, racing in 5ks and triathlons, watching movies, and any fun things I can do with my kids. I love so many things: singing, creating, developing curriculum, playing softball, traveling, racing in 5ks and triathlons, watching movies, and any fun things I can do with my kids.

Expectations WORK HARD and BE NICE!

Starting the Day When you arrive at school, report to the hallway on side of your classroom door. If you eat breakfast at school, drop off your book sack and go straight to the cafeteria. You don’t have time to wait on friends. Make sure you are here before 8:15 if you plan to eat breakfast here. Finish your breakfast and make sure you have gone to the restroom before class begins at 8:25 sharp.

Entering the Classroom Pick up any necessary materials from cubby. Place homework and any notes for me on your desk. Begin morning work. If you complete morning work, study or read an AR book.

Your Desk Please keep your desk neat and clean. Do not write on your desk or lean back in your chair. We’ll clean desks every afternoon to keep them germ-free We’ll clean desks every afternoon to keep them germ-free

Lining Up There are several times throughout the day that we will need to line up and move through the campus. They include: Electives and PE, Switch time, Lunch, Recess, and when we go to the Computer Lab ANY TIME we line up, we need to FLIP and ZIP and proceed to our destination quickly and quietly.

Pencils / Trash Can Pencils for you to use are placed at each table. Please do not break, tear up, or take the pencils/erasers for your table. If your pencil is broken, raise your hand, and I will trade you a sharpened pencil for your broken one. Place all trash in one of the trash cans when you exit the room. Do NOT leave your seat without permission.

Bathroom Procedures Please visit the restroom before class starts at 8:25, at our 10:30 break, and after lunch. If you have an emergency at another time, raise your hand, and I will dismiss you. Do not play or hang out in the bathroom-it stinks in there Do not play or hang out in the bathroom-it stinks in there Respect others’ privacy while in the bathroom. ALWAYS wash your hands before returning to class.

Test Papers Test papers will be sent home every Wednesday, and should be signed and returned by Thursday. It’s your responsibility to show your parents your test papers and to return them to me each week.

Cafeteria Everyone must go through the lunch line. All students get free lunch this year. If you bring your lunch from home, you will start at the front of the line for your quick choice of a milk or fruit, etc., before you sit at your table. Do not throw or drop food. Keep your area clean. Keep your voice quiet in the cafeteria. Students are not allowed to use microwaves due to time.

Recess / Concessions On days that we may have recess, students should use that time to relax and play. Students should not run on top of concrete benches or run in flower beds. At times, I may allow you to purchase concessions. If I allow you to eat concessions in class, you will have to do so neatly.

Dismissal When dismissed, go straight to your area. Do not stop to talk to friends or go to the concession stand, or the bus may leave you. Behave in your area. Students should be quiet and seated in carpool and bus lines.
