2 About Me… Love math and science! UCLA – Engineering Mechanical Engineer for 6 years Mom - 3 children + dog + husband Substitute teacher for 2 years Credential Enjoy camping, eating, exercising and watching my children play their sports.

3 Expectations Atmosphere in classroom will be formal and academic, focused on learning. Class time runs from BELL to BELL. Positive attitude is the key to success ! No complaints or excuses please Students and teacher will work hard and enjoy learning.

4 Materials Spiral notebook (100 pages) – “Interactive Notebook” Glue stick Pencils with erasers Whiteboard marker Whiteboard eraser Colored Pencils Graph Paper Lined paper 2” – Binder (AVID students only)

5 Procedures A part of life! Airports, restaurants, driving, etc. So you know what to expect and what you should be doing at all times.

6 Entering Class START OF PERIOD: Enter the room calmly and on time. Must be in your seat with materials out when bell rings or you will be marked tardy. Backpack goes under your seat! Immediately and quietly begin warm-up activity.

7 Getting Attention When I need your attention I will use a variety of strategies. Stop and listen! When you need my attention raise your hand and wait quietly for my attention. If you need to say something. If you need to leave your chair.

8 Bathroom Use The best time is during passing period or lunch. Leave class to use the bathroom only when truly necessary. You must use your bathroom pass. You must get permission from the teacher without disrupting class. Only one person at a time will use the bathroom.

9 Visitors Come in from time to time. Continue with what you are doing. Probably won’t introduce. You have a job to do, they have a job to do.

10 End of the Period The bell does not dismiss you, the teacher does. All students must be still and quiet. The room must be clean and neat. When dismissed, exit quietly.

11 Rules Follow directions the first time they are given. Do not disrupt class. Be polite and courteous to others. Stay seated and on task. Do not throw or toss anything.

12 Consequences Consequences are the results of your choices Positive choices (follow rules) = positive consequences Negative choices (break rules) = negative consequences You make choices everyday. Clothes Food Activities You also make choices in the classroom everyday.

13 Consequences Negative choices result in 1 st - Name on board and see me after class. 2 nd – Check next to name and call home. 3 rd – Second check next to name and trash pick up. 4 th – Third check next to name and detention. Positive choices result in Better grades More respect Pawsitives Treats

14 Thank you! Thank you for following the classroom procedures and rules. This will allow us to have a wonderful, creative, and productive remainder of the year with minimal stress and wasted time.
