Ms. Lewis’s Rules and Procedures for making Studio Art the BEST class of your high school career.

Reminder #1: You are a Student who is high school. Reminder #2: Behavior should not be an issue. Reminder #3: You need to pass Art to get a diploma. If behavior is an issue, it will be handled according to school policy. You will receive a phone call home, you may meet with the Assistant Principal or the Principal. If you have any issues or concerns that may lead to a behavioral problem, please know that you can speak to me individually at any time and we will work together to handle any situation.

Classwork…..……………….…………….40% Homework/Sketchbook…………….40% Tests/Quizzes ………………………………………10% Class Participation & Effort……………………………………10% *Final Exam may be skipped if quarter grades are 85%+ on each. There will be a midterm portfolio review and assessment, and a final portfolio review and assessment. Your sketchbook is your notebook for this course. You will be expected to work in your sketchbook with each project you do. Sketchbooks will be checked periodically and you will be expected to have a certain number of pages filled at each check point. Class participation, behavior and effort will be assessed on a daily basis.

CLASS PROJECTS: When you are given a deadline, it is expected that your work is complete and prepared to be viewed on that deadline. You will receive a ZERO PROJECT GRADE for work that is not complete on a due date. Yes, Students have FAILED A MARKING PERIOD IN STUDIO ! PROJECT CHECK POINT DEADLINES: If you do not have work on a progress check-in day, you receive a ZERO for a classwork grade that day and that will effect your test/quiz average. If you are found to be cutting class on a work due date or a in-progress check date, you will receive a zero. HOMEWORK(SKETCHBOOK) DEADLINES: Late homework receives a ZERO. Sketchbooks that are not handed in on the due date receive a ZERO.

Be Prepared Everyday!

Keep books and bags off the desk, and out of the aisle on the floor.

You know I love a good snack, however, you may not eat during class- -It hinders your work ethic -Can potentially ruin an artwork, -Takes away from your work time. -Makes the room messy and smelly!

Cell phone policy: -You must sign the technology agreement to use your phone only for artistic purposes. Special projects ONLY. -If your phone is out, or being used for a non-art purpose it will be taken away. -Your parents will get a phone call home. -Repeat cell phone offenders will find their phone in the main office at the end of the day where your parents will have to pick it up.

Be attentive and respectful

Raise your hand when you’d like to share something

Don’t write on school property. If you feel like drawing put it on paper.

Don’t touch objects in the room that do not belong to you

If you want to leave on time, help clean up the room...even if it wasn’t your mess.

Don’t EVER throw away an artwork without Ms. Lewis’s approval!

The experience you have in this room is dependent upon your attitude.

Don’t get scared or worried about making art, or what it will look like. You’re beyond that. Confidence is KEY to success in this class. Unfortunately we don’t have time to practice too much in here, you have to produce work that will have a strong result. You can resubmit work, you can re- do something, but you have to take control and put in the effort. Stay calm and work hard at each project! Don’t let yourself get frustrated. There’s more than one solution so find one that works for you! Give your teacher and classmates your personal best so they may achieve theirs. Motivate each other to do better! This is NOT a contest. Don’t cheat at art by letting someone do something for you. You’re being tested on your ability to show off your personal style!
