Ms. Livoti’s Rules and Procedures for making AP Drawing the BEST class of your high school career

Concepts and Objectives Mastery of concepts, composition, and execution of personal ideas and themes. High quality work is expected and it is assumed that all work from this course will be included in AP Exam Portfolios. 3 Exam Parts: Quality Concentration Breadth + written commentary

Breadth work will presented to you as units of study, where you will use a variety of mediums, techniques and approaches to develop your concepts and ideas. Critiques will be on-going. You will have in-progress check ins/critiques. Individual conferences will be used to help you develop your concentration portfolio and discuss progress. Copyright issues: all work must be original! 5 Reminder #1: You are an AP Student who is either in 11 th or 12 th grade. Reminder #2: Behavior should not be an issue. If behavior is an issue, it will be handled according to school policy. You will receive a phone call home, you may meet with the Department Chairperson, you may have to meet with an Assistant Principal or the Principal. If you have any issues or concerns that may lead to a behavioral problem, please know that you can speak to me individually at any time and we will work together to handle any situation.

Classwork/Breadth Section) …..……………….…………….40% Homework/Sketchbook (Concentration Section)…………….40% Tests/Critiques/portfolio ………………………………………10% Class Participation & Effort……………………………………10% (Final Exam/ Portfolio Assessment follows completion of coursework)

Let’s make things easy to remember: 1.Any work done in this course is technically part of an EXAM. If you leave exam questions blank on a test do you get points for that question? No. 2. If you’re not prepared with work to show me when necessary due dates and check points occur: Your grade is a Zero. In this course, a COMPLETED artwork that has been turned in on the due date may be re-submitted for re- evaluation if you choose to significantly improve the artwork upon the teachers critical recommendation. If your artwork is missing or unfinished on the due date/checkpoint....see #2.

Be Prepared Everyday!

You know I love a good snack, however, you may not eat during class. It hinders your work ethic, can potentially ruin an artwork, takes away from your work time, and makes the room messy.

Cell phone policy: You must sign the technology agreement to use your phone only for artistic purposes. If your phone is out, or being used for a non-art purpose it will be taken away. Your parents will get a phone call home. Repeat cell phone offenders will find their phone in the main office at the end of the day where your parents will have to pick it up.

Be attentive and respectful

Don’t write on school property. If you feel like drawing put it on paper.

Don’t touch objects in the room that do not belong to you

If you want to leave on time, help clean up the room...even if it wasn’t your mess.

Don’t EVER throw away an artwork without Ms. Livoti’s approval!

You are walking through the door of the art room as one of the BEST OF THE BEST! You’re here for a reason. OWN IT! Don’t get scared or worried about making art, or what it will look like. You’re beyond that. Confidence is KEY to success in this class. Unfortunately we don’t have time to practice too much in here, you have to produce work that will have a strong result. You have to take control and put in the effort. Stay calm and work hard at each project! Don’t let yourself get frustrated. There’s more than one solution so find one that works for you! ALSO, TRY NEW THINGS! Give your teacher and classmates your personal best so they may achieve theirs. Motivate each other to do better! This is NOT a contest. This class is a TEST for everyone! You have 25 other resources, use them as you would use your notes in an open book test. Don’t cheat at art by letting someone do something for you. You’re being tested on your ability to show off your personal style! Some other things to think about......
