1 Welcome to Ms. Graham’s Class Classroom Expectations

2 Student Behaviors Be prompt Be prepared
Be ready to learn when class begins. Be prepared Have materials with you and know due dates. Be a polite and positive participant Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively. Raise hand and speak when it is acknowledge by Ms. Graham. Be productive Turn in work on time, and always do your best. Be a problem solver Correct problems between peers peacefully, see Ms. Graham or another teacher/ Mrs. Barnes/ Ms. shott, if someone is not being kind to you.

3 Classroom rules and Procedures
Never talk while Ms. Graham is teaching at the board. If your pencil breaks during direct instruction time, raise your hand to get permission to sharpen it. Students may sharpen pencils without permission during none direct teaching time. Students who misuse this privilege will lose it. When Ms. Graham raises her hand, students must stop what they’re doing, raise their hands and give Ms. Graham their undivided attention. Students may only work in groups when given permission by Ms. Graham.

4 Classroom rules and procedures
Assignment books (planner) must be signed by Ms. Graham at the end class period. Students must remain in their seats unless given permission by Ms. Graham to move. Students may not use another student’s calculator. Students who come to class without a calculator may use Ms. Graham’s calculator, if it is available. Students must line up when given permission by Ms. Graham. Remain in line silently (classroom , hallway and breezeway)

5 Class work and homework
When a student finishes an assignment before class is over, student must chose another math activity to complete (GO TO BOX) Students receive Homework nightly. Students are responsible for completing their homework. If homework is too hard to complete, I need a parent note explaining why your homework was incomplete.

6 Consequences Reflection time in class or another classroom
Isolated lunch Note or phone call home Notice of Concern No privileges (dress down day, hot dog roast etc.) Conduct referral and/ or principal’s office If you are sent to the office, you will receive a conduct referral. Instant Saturday Detention

7 Rewards Stars Praise phone call or note to parents
Friday Fun Day (educational math games) Small Treat

8 Show Respect Value yourself. Be honest and practice strong moral values. Treat all members of the Morning Star school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. Honor the ideas and opinions of others. Offer to help Be responsible with property and belongings.

9 Responsibility for Class work
Bring notebook, textbook, planner, composition book and appropriate writing tools to class. Know due dates, and submit all class work on time. All major assignments are posted on the bulletin board and on the class Website (Ms. Graham’s page).

10 Major Assignments and Projects
All major assignments are posted on the bulletin board and on the class Web site Major assignments and projects can be resubmitted. They will be scored at a 10% deduction . All major assignments and projects are due on the stated due date. If you are absent the project must be turned in before the stated due date. All major assignments or projects are considered late if turned in after the stated due date. Points will be deducted on all late assignments or projects

11 EXTRA CREDIT! *Students may request extra credit.
Ms. Graham may offer extra credit. Extra Credit is only given in case of low grades. Extra Credit is not given to make-up assignments that are not turned in.

12 Grading Grades are based on: Class participation
Grading Scale 97-100% = A+ 93-96% = A 92-90% = A- 89-87% = B+ 86-83% = B 82-80% = B- 79-77% =C+ 76-73% =C 72-70% =C- 69-67% =D+ 66-63% =D 62-60% =D- Below 60% = F Grades are based on: Class participation Completion of assignments Homework % Class work % Problem Solving % Quizzes and tests % Major projects, Exams- (Varies)

13 Policies Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom.
Students may bring water to class. Students who abuse this privilege will lose it. Please enter the room quietly, get materials together and have a seat. Take out assignment book and homework Sharpen pencils in your homeroom Absences Arrive to school and class on time. Remember a student cannot miss more than 7 days in a nine-week period. Students who are absent more than 7 days may not receive a passing grade.

14 My Pledge to My Students
. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will work with you to meet your learning goals and your style of learning I will offer extra help (Mondays after school) and alternative assessments should you require them.
