How will I be graded? You will be graded on a points system Extra Credit is always available Grading Scale:  93 – above = A  85 – 92 = B  75 – 84 = C  70 – 74 = D  Below 70 = F *Remember you are responsible for your grades

CLASSROOM GUIDELINES

GUIDELINE #1 Be in your seat and working on the bell work when the tardy bell rings.

GUIDELINE #2 Bring ALL materials to class and take them with you when you leave.

GUIDELINE #3 Follow directions the first time they are given.

GUIDELINE #4 Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity.

GUIDELINE #5 Actively participate in class lectures by taking notes and not disturbing those around you.

GUIDELINE #6 Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in the OMS and Rutherford County Schools handbooks.

SPECIAL GUIDELINE This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone” this year.

Guideline Infraction Notice

Following Guidelines will result in: Verbal Acknowledgement A Stress free learning environment A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere

NOT Following Guidelines will result in: 1 st  Guideline Infraction Notice, Warning 2nd  Guideline Infraction Notice, Parental Contact 3rd  Disciplinary Referral

Severe Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

When you are tardy… Enter quietly Excused: Place excuse in the basket on my desk Unexcused: Sign tardy list on corner of my desk Have a seat and take out your materials

What do I do next? Activities Work on unfinished assignments Read your “Library” book Start working on tonight’s homework

Computer Procedures  You MUST ask a teacher before using the computer.  No student is allowed on the computer if there is a substitute teacher.  No streaming of music or video, “Pandora, YouTube, iHeart radio, etc.”  You MUST use computer for educational purposes, if you are unsure about a site ask the teacher.  Remember – The Technology Support Services Department at the Rutherford County Board of Education is monitoring your Activity.

Scheduled check out Please let me know as you enter the classroom I will be at the door Quietly raise your hand to get my attention Pack your materials and leave at the scheduled time (when the office calls for you) If it is an emergency, quickly get my attention and I will assist you.

Turning in papers Place your paper in the basket on the rear counter.

Classroom Discussions PLEASE participate I want to hear what you have to say Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask me later

CPS Activities PLEASE participate All students will receive a daily grade based on their involvement Make sure you are taking some notes; I will be taking them up at the end of class This is not a time to work on other assignments, socialize, or simply not participate

Moving around the room You must ask permission Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency

Class Dismissal The teacher dismisses you, not the bell Do not start packing up prior to the bell unless you have been instructed to do so Make sure you clean up around your area before you leave Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with: “Have a nice day.”

Substitute Teachers Follow all of the substitute’s instructions the first time they are given Sit quietly and complete the assigned work Do not socialize with your classmates or get off task If your name is written down on the misbehaved list for any reason, you will be given a write off or “replacement” assignment that must be competed by the following morning, NO QUESTIONS ASKED If your name is put on the misbehaved list again you will be sent to early morning detention
