Rhode Island Founded By: Roger Williams Reasons: Religious Freedom/believed government should not force people to worship in a certain way first place ALL people could worship freely People: Puritans

Connecticut Founded: Thomas Hooker Reasons: Religious Freedom run from Puritan leaders/better farm land/ people had the right to make decisions in religion and government People: Puritans

Massachusetts Founded: 1630 John Winthrop/ Massachusetts Bay Colony Reasons: Religious Freedom/escape persecution in England/ Although they wanted religious freedom they persecuted people who did not believe like them People: Puritans

New Hampshire Founded: 1679 John Wheelwright Two Proprietors Reasons: Farming/Mass was getting too crowded /believed like Williams People: Settlers
