Transitioning to High School 8 th Grade Conference with Parents (District Middle School Counselors - Oct.) 8 th Grade Parent Night (January) High School Counselors Meet Individually With Every 8 th Grader to Discuss Course Selection (February) High School Tour (April) Registration Fair (August) Mini Day (First Day of School) Frosh Fest (First Saturday after School Begins)

Credit Requirements for Graduation English 4 Social Studies 3 Science 3 Math 3 Applied/Fine Arts.5 Physical Education* 1.5 Health.5 Electives 8.5 Total Credits Required = 22 *Phy Ed Waiver – Freshmen are not eligible

4.5 credits or more = Sophomore 9.5 credits or more = Junior 15.5 credits or more = Senior Regardless of Your Age! Did you hear the about True Academic Standing??

Honors Courses 9 th Grade: English 9, Biology, Geometry and Advanced Algebra AP Human Geography 10 th – 12 th Grade: English 10, English 11, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geometry, Adv. Algebra, Pre-Calculus and all 4 th Year World Languages Initial placement in English, Science, Global Studies and Algebra A is determined by test scores. (7 th grade Explore scores were used on the Individual Course Selection Form, but may change based on 8 th grade EXPLORE scores.) See Pg. 4 in “Gearing Up” for more information.
