3 What is LNHS?

4 Graduation Requirements English- 4 credits Mathematics- 4 credits Science- 3 credits Social Studies- 4 credits World Languages-not required for HS Graduation but 2 credit min. for UNC system college admission Heath and PE- 1 credit 12 Elective credits- some specific combinations Total 28 credits

5 Registration Instructions Each student should select 8 classes on their registration card. They should also indicate 4 alternate classes on their registration card. You are to return your registration card to your middle school counselor. Our guidance counselors will pick up completed registration cards on April 1 from the middle schools.

7 Social Studies Curriculum Changes Freshmen now only have two choices for their social studies course: They can take Academic or Honors Civics & Economics Sophomore year students will take either AP World History, Honors World History, or Academic World History Junior year, students can take AP U.S. History (which is a year- long program) or they will take American History 1 Academic or American History 1 Honors. If students choose to take American History 1Academic or Honors, they will be required to take American History 2 their senior year.

9 North Carolina Career Clusters Graduation Requirement All rising freshmen and current freshmen and sophomores are required to complete four courses in a designated cluster area. Identifying a cluster is meant to focus your student You can find the list of the clusters on the district webpage under the “Announcements” tab on the right sidebar. Please visit the counselors for specific information

11 Freshmen Transition Camp This is a huge opportunity for rising 9th graders to become accustomed to our school. The dates for the camp will be August 12,13, and 14. Students will be assigned a specific day to come in correlation with which homeroom they are placed in. Students are only asked to come on ONE DAY. They do not need to attend all three.

12 As You Leave… To your right in the commons, our wonderful show choir has prepared a short performance for you! The gyms will be to your left. Please follow the signs to get down to where you need to go as well as exit after you have finished meeting our staff!
