The Relay Recess Program brings the American Cancer Society Relay for Life to elementary schools nationwide. The program engages elementary students in the fight against cancer through fundraising activities that support cancer research programs and services in the community. Students will benefit by increasing their knowledge of healthy behaviors that will help them stay well, building school spirit, and developing a lifelong passion for philanthropy. Our events will include a week-long fundraising event in the classroom. Students can earn links for a class chain with each 25 cent donation. The top class per grade level will win a popsicle party. During morning meeting on Friday, we will honor cancer survivors and have these family members and students participate in the first lap of our Relay Recess event. Throughout the morning, each grade level will participate in activity stations in the school yard. Our class will participate from 9:30-10:10. Luminaria bags will be available for a donation of $1.00 from now until Thursday. Bags can be decorated in honor of cancer survivors or loved ones lost to cancer. Luminaria bags will be displayed along the path on the day of the Relay Recess Event.
