The Common Core Standards were developed to prepare all students for their future. Jobs in the 21 st century will require a more rigorous set of skills and knowledge that are valued by employers and higher education. The Common Core Standards help ensure that students will graduate from high school with the core academic skills and knowledge necessary for success in college, careers and life, and it all starts right here in KINDERGARTEN!

 This year your child will be using a B.E.E. Binder to house all important information that they will need for school.  Please make sure to read the contract with your child, sign, and return to school.

 Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. Homework will be sent home on Monday, in your child’s B.E.E. Binder, It is due on Friday. There will be nights where homework comes from the Math workbook, please tear out the appropriate page and return to school.  Please read with your child every night.

 Absence Note- When your child returns to school after being absent a note explaining the absence must be sent in or your child will receive an illegal absence.  Missed Work- All class work will be sent home with your child when he/she returns to school. Please complete and return to school as your child is capable of completing.  Vacations- Class work will be given to your child when he/she returns to school.

 Belts need not be worn until your child is able to fasten and unfasten independently.  Post earrings only- no hoops  Only religious necklaces may be worn  Nail polish and tattoos are not allowed  Girls may wear navy or black shorts under dress  Hair bows should be school uniform colors  Shoelaces  (Please pack an extra pair set of clothes in a labeled Ziploc bag in your child’s backpack)

 The school has a no food policy for birthday celebrations. In kindergarten you may send a simple craft for your child and his/her classmates to complete on their birthday.  Birthday celebrations for school will be scheduled closest to your child’s birthday. Summer birthdays will be scheduled on their half birthday.

 Snack- Snacks need to be packed separately from lunch, in a totally disposable bag, labeled with your child’s name.  Label Everything- sweaters, sweatshirts, backpacks, lunchboxes, jackets, etc.  Friday Afternoon Parent Reading  Kindergarten Graduation, June 19 th.
