1 Ms. Taylor’s Class Parent Orientation August 16, 2011 4 th Grade

2 S.T.A.R. Binders Comes home every night- check and sign agenda and check papers. Send notes/money to me in clear pocket. The children should be writing there homework in the agenda nightly.

3 Homework Approximately 30 minutes 20 minutes of reading each night Study for Friday spelling tests.

4 Money Checks are appreciated! Cash- exact amount Please place it in a sealed envelope. On the front of the envelope, please include the following: Child’s first and last name Amount of money Purpose for the money Teacher’s name

5 Lunch Your child may eat lunch in our cafeteria or bring their lunch from home. Please do not send frozen dinners or other lunches that need to be heated up. Please send money on Mondays! Please feel free to eat lunch with your child ANYTIME! Our lunch is from 12:10-12:35.

7 Arrival and Attendance When your child is absent, please send a note explaining the absence the day your child returns to school. If you go to the doctor, please have the doctor write an excuse. You have 5 days to send in an excuse. Your child will automatically be marked unexcused until I receive an excuse. Students will have five days after their absences to complete and return any important missed assignments. Please do not call the office for missed assignments until your child has missed more than 2 days of school. If your child will miss school for reasons other than illness, please contact Mr. Gullion.

8 Transportation A note must be written to notify the teacher if there are ANY changes in transportation. If there is not a note, the child will be sent home by their regular means. Changes cannot be made over the phone.

9 Medicine State law does not allow teachers to administer any type of medicine to children. If medication is required during the school day, it must be administered by office personnel. The nurse’s office must have a completed medicine form filed by the parent or guardian. The forms may be picked up in the school office. CHILDREN MAY NOT TRANSPORT MEDICINE TO OR FROM SCHOOL. IT MUST BE DROPPED OFF AND PICKED UP BY THE PARENT.

10 Birthdays You are welcome to send cupcakes or a special snack for your child’s birthday. If your child has a summer birthday, you may send cupcakes/snack during the last 3 weeks of school. However the snack MUST be store bought. You can not send in any home made items.

11 Snack We will have snack time each day between 9:00 and 9:30. We will follow the snack schedule in your child’s agenda.
