SNACK/LUNCHTIME  We will begin having snack on the first day of school. We are not allowed to provide students with food/drink so please be sure your child has his/her snack/lunch.  We strive to be a nut free school so please be sure to read labels and refrain from sending in items containing nuts. (This includes Chick-Fil-A which is prepared in peanut oil.)  Due to time constraints for snack we ask that students bring in only one item to eat and one item to drink.  Because of safety concerns we are not allowed to heat up food for our students.  Please consider healthy choices for snack and lunch. For instance juice boxes/pouches instead of soda.

 Please bring your supplies to open house.  Be sure to label personal supplies with your child’s name.  You will be asked to sort supplies at open house.  Journals need to be primary ruled composition books with a space at the top for pictures.

 Please make sure you put your child’s name in his/her sweaters.  Nail polish free  Stud earrings only  Extra uniform in book bag This is very important!  Dress Down Days: No tank tops or sandals

Students must be able to independently: Use the restroom Tie their shoes Buckle their belt/zip pants Open lunch box and it’s content Open backpacks Tuck in shirts Use zippers, velcro, and buttons

Please put your child’s snack in a Ziploc bag and label it with your child’s name Optional lunch program provided Please be prompt. Instructional time starts at 8:15. Please label your child’s PE mat. They are used for nap until October 1 st and may be used for exercises in P.E. throughout the year. Smaller mats are preferable due to space constraints.

MONDAY FOLDERS Manila folders are sent out on Monday of each week. These folders contain student work. Students should return these folders, signed with any other requested information on Tuesday morning.

Our school wide newsletter is posted on our website each Monday. In addition, we post our Kindergarten Newsletter online as well. This will give you information that is grade specific.

Homework & Homework Folders Each child will be responsible for his/her homework folders beginning the first day of school. We request that these be two-pocket, plastic folders.

Spelling and Sight Words We will begin spelling and sight Words the first week of school. We will have written spelling tests each week. We will periodically give one on one sight word tests. Be sure you are practicing these words with your child daily.

In Kindergarten we aim to do about 4-6 fieldtrips a year. We try and make it fun and hands on and try to always tie it into objectives we’re working on in class. We ride the bus on trips and chaperones follow us in their own vehicles. Students can not be checked out from the trip but may be checked out from school after a trip if it’s close to the end of a day. We like taking chaperones with us on our trips but sometimes space limitations affect the number of chaperones that we can take.

All the classrooms have the same rules. We use positive reinforcement. Students are encouraged to show correct behavior at all times. Daily behavior sheets

Reading: Identify all the letters (upper and lower case) of the alphabet and their sounds. Read on a level D or above to be successful in first grade. Know at least 85% of the kindergarten sight words. Math: Identify and write numbers 0-30. Count to a 100.
