 The students have 25 minutes to read silently and eat their snack. So please be sure to always have at least two on level reading books for them.

Communication is an important part of the success of your child. I will post weekly updates each and every Friday on our class page.class page The best way to communicate with me is through . My address is

All important information regarding my class is always on the Somerset academy webpage. Please check this site by Monday morning for updated information in regards to our weekly curriculum and assignments. Please go to then click on staff directory, and click on Mrs. Diaz

Students are required to purchase a planner that comes with a book bag tag. Please make sure your child takes their planner home everyday and brings it back to school on a daily basis. This is also a great way to communicate with me, as well as, notify you about your child’s behavior on a daily basis. Please make sure to sign your child’s agenda every night.

Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. Your child’s blue binder is their homework folder. Your child’s homework binder must come to school on a daily basis. Homework will be graded.

 Class Dojo  Mr. Potato Head  Cutie Pie  Lunch Bunch  Every student has a clothespin with their number on it. The clothespins are clipped on the right or left side of the chart. Students start their day on “Ready to Learn”. They move up down the chart throughout the day depending on their behavior.

 Verbal praise and recognition  Friday treasure box.  Fun Friday Activities  Student of the Week  Lunch Bunch  Student of the Month

Friday folders are the Somerset folders. They go home on Fridays, and come back on Mondays. Please empty the folder, unless I need something to be signed and sent back to me.

Please make sure that all money is an envelope with your child’s name and what the money is for. No checks are accepted unless it is to pay for lunch. Lunch is $3.25. A check for the month is the best way to pay. Online payments for other items/activities are required this year.

I love to celebrate each darling’s birthday and I do so during snack time (10:30-10:50) on their birthday or the date you desire. Please inform me ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

We will be having snack time at 10:30am every day. Please send a healthy and ready to eat snack for your child. Some healthy snack ideas are: sliced fruit, raisins, granola bars, yogurt, and cut veggies.

Parents need to volunteer 30 hours in the school year. The best way to do this is to please purchase supplies from my wish list. This benefits the teacher and the students. Every 4 dollars you spend you receive 1 hour. Please keep track of your own hours. Please staple all receipts to the volunteer form. Please fill out the form, and I will sign it. Without the receipts, you will not receive volunteer hours. NO EXCEPTIONS!—Volunteer form can now be found online!

Be here everyday! Doors open at 7:45. Students are marked tardy if they arrive after 8:05. If a student is absent the parent/guardian has 48 hours to excuse it through a note, phone call, or . After 48 hours, you must have a doctor’s note.

Carpool pickup is at 2:00. Students who are not picked up by 2:30 will be signed into the office and there will be a charge of $25 added to your volunteer hours. Early Release Days – dismissal is at 12:00 p.m. If you pick-up from the car lane: Please hang colored decal from your rearview mirror and make sure to include your child’s name using a dark permanent marker. Early Pick-up is not allowed after 1:30 p.m. If there is a change in the way that your child is getting home the best way to notify me is by sending a note or calling before 1:30 p.m.

 Three fieldtrips throughout the year.  Only registered volunteers will be allowed to attend.

 Given by appointment In person or by phone  Twice a year (fall and spring) or if there is a concern
