3. SNACK TIME  Students will have an opportunity to eat a healthy snack each day.  Snacks should not interfere with instructional time.  Make the snack healthy and one that will give your child energy for learning.  Students may keep a bottle of plain water with them at their desk.  Snack time will be determined when we see how our day flows.

4. Parents’ Responsibilities  Complete the forms and turn these in tonight.  Complete Welcome Packet that will be going home with your child.  Sign your child’s agenda nightly.  Ask your child’s teachers regarding any questions you may have.

5. Communication  As needed, your child’s communication binder will contain the following:  Notes and Memos from the classrooms and the office.  Please be sure to check your child’s RATS notebook for class work and tests that go home.

6. Keeping Parents Informed A fifth grade newsletter will be posted on our class webpages. The newsletter will inform you of the standards the grade level is working on and upcoming events. I will also email a weekly update of class test dates and projects. Please be sure to sign up for these email notifications. Your child’s teachers maintain Class Web pages to help you have online access to information and resources.

7. Homework In Fifth Grade  Complete homework and have it ready to check the next day. Math work must be shown and questions answered with complete sentences.  Read each night to complete your 25 book campaign.  Study for upcoming tests.  Read materials we have discussed in class. This will help you be prepared.  Use your agenda to record all assignments.

8. Donations  If you would like to make donations please take a look at our wish list on the chalkboard.

9. Special Reminders  Registration Card – complete and turn in tonight.  Card Rider Pass – Complete using a permanent marker and take the pass with you.  Student Information Sheet – Complete and turn in tonight.

10. Parents Can Get Involved  Take time to look over the parent volunteer sign up sheets. We would really love to have you volunteer at McGarity.

11. Take A Look Around Again, I welcome each of you to fifth grade. Take time to explore our classrooms. Take a look at our fifth grade text books which are located on a desk.
