Homework/Tests Spelling:List goes home - Monday Tests – Friday Math:Independent Practice M-Th Reading:20 minutes – Daily Science: Chapter/Unit Tests/Occasional Projects Social Studies:Chapter/Unit Tests/Occasional Projects Journal Checks: Vocabulary, notes, text dependent questions Friday Letters: Written by students to inform families of learning activities. Please read and sign. Tuesday Letters: Written by teacher, parent signature required Homework posted daily. Students record in reminders app. Report Card marks are updated regularly in Infinite Campus
Make-Up Tests If a student is absent on the day of a test or graded class work, it is his or her responsibility to make-up the test within two weeks. Students scoring below 70% on Formative Tests will have the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency by retaking a similar assessment (except Spelling) following reteaching within two weeks. Make-up and redo tests may be completed before school or at lunch by appointment, or during intervention. Incomplete tests remain at school.
District Benchmarks Based on California State Essential Standards, VCPUSD has designed a schedule of Benchmark Standards to be taught by the following weeks: September October December January March 30-April 2 May 4-8 All formative and summative tests are online.

Accelerated Reader - Student award and class award Trimester Awards - Academics, Effort, Citizenship Ring the Bell - End-of-the-school-year reading level or SMART goal Character Cards - Caught making good choices Monthly card drawing Lizard Luncheon-Selected students eat with the Principal. Honor Luncheon –Honor Roll and Principal’s List students have lunch with a guest. All Work In - Students who finish all weekly work on time and complete earn privileges. Awards
Miscellaneous Reminders Changes to transportation - please send this in writing to save time and stress. Meals/Snacks - Breakfast, Second Breakfast, and Lunch are served at school. Wrap food from home securely to prevent ants. Cell phones in backpacks, turned off during school hours. Birthday Celebrations - 24 hour notice, store bought items only, and no invitations passed out at school. Our class has 34 students. Treats served at 3:00. Send napkins.
