If you are interested in receiving class information through , be sure to return the enclosed sheet. Weekly Report Each Friday please check your child’s homework folder for a weekly behavior report. After reviewing, please initial that you have seen this report. If you have any questions or comments you may write them in the comment section on the document or send an . Our class webpage is FULL of useful information and some fun learning links that will help your child have success year. Phone/Voic I will respond promptly to any phone messages that you leave. Behavior Classroom expectations will be clearly stated, taught and reinforced. Focus on positive (Spot On! Behavior) Natural consequences 5 Classroom Rules (Whole Brain Teaching) The expectation is for all students to follow the rules and do their BEST!

Homework Please send the Homework Folder to school each day! Kindergarten Homework will be posted on the class website under the “kindergarten homework” page monthly. Parents are responsible for printing out the homework. The homework is broken up into weeks 1-4, students are to complete one page each night and turn the completed WEEK in every Friday (be sure they write their name on every page.) In addition, students should be reading their “book bag” book (when we begin Daily 5) and parents should be reading a story or two to their child NIGHTLY. First Grade Homework will be posted every Friday on the class website under the “first grade homework” page. A math worksheet will be sent home daily (Monday-Thursday) in your child’s Homework Folder. This assignment is to be completed and returned the following day. First graders are expected to complete a weekly writing prompt that is due on or before Thursday every week. The prompts will be posted along with the homework on Friday. In addition, students should be reading their “book bag” book (when we begin Daily 5) and parents should be reading a story or two to their child NIGHTLY.

Get Involved! Please fill out and return the yellow Volunteer Form. We will need two parents every day for Daily 5 beginning the week of September 15. My parent training is Thursday, September 11 th at 3:15. I will need a room parent, prep work at home, a weekly “copy queen or king,” an Art Docent, Science Docent assistants, a Project Lead the Way assistant, and help with field trips and class parties. I would also really appreciate having a volunteer to help daily with math. Ways to get involved with our school: Join PTC! Become a Watch Dog! Help with Special Events!

Pick Up/Drop Off Kindergarten Procedure: Drop-off at Lot B: I will have “duty” at Lot B, but you will need to wait with your child until 8:45, you may wait under the structure. Pick-up at front gate: I will bring students to the front gate at 1:55 Parents need to wait with your child until I pick up the students. Please DO NOT allow your child to climb into the planter box or walk on the wall of the planter box while waiting at drop off or pick up. First Grade Procedure: Gates open at 8:35, students may walk onto campus, leave their backpack on the rack, and go out to the playground. Dismissal is at 3:10. Students will exit school and go to Lot A (by Adventure Club) or Lot B (directly out the gate closest to our classroom) to be picked up; to the outside “stage” for Adventure Club check-in; or walk to the front of the school to take the bus. Please remember, parents are not allowed on campus unless they have signed in at the office, so please wait outside the gates for your child. All Students: Late Arrival Procedure: If you are late for drop off, please check your student in at the office. The office staff will see them to class. If you are late for pick up, your child will be in the office. Please remember to park in a designated parking space and use marked cross walks for the safety of your children. All visitors on campus must sign in at office and wear name tag for the safety of your children.

Others Snacks- Send a healthy snack daily. We have a nut allergy, please do not send nut or nut products for the safety of all children. School Supplies- We share supplies, there is no need to write your child’s name on them. As the year progresses, I will post class needs. Birthdays- Non-food items only may be sent to school. You may send invitations to school if the ENTIRE class is being invited. Otherwise, please use the class list to mail/ invitations.
