Alveolar nasal /n/ : made by stopping the flow of air with the tongue tip against the alveolar ridge. Sample words: new, know, rain, gnat. Velar nasal /ŋ/ : made by stopping the flow of air with the back of the tongue against the velum. Example words : singer, ringing, finger, anger. /ŋ/ occurs without a following /g/ at the end of a morpheme, in the middle it has a following /g/. Nasal 3
