CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

CLASSROOM RULES AND PROCEDURES   PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS YOUR ROOM AND YOUR CLASS. THE BEHAVIOR AND PARTICIPATION OF EACH PERSON WILL SHAPE THE TYPE OF LEARNING THAT WILL OCCUR. SINCE ONE PERSON’S BEHAVIOR AFFECTS EVERYONE ELSE, I EXPECT THAT EVERYONE IN THE CLASS FOLLOW THE RULES AND PROCEDURES. IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO BECAUSE THE RULES AND PROCEDURES ARE THERE TO HELP EVERYBODY.

(THE FIVE CLASSROOM RULES THAT ARE POSTED ON THE WALL) 1 ) BE ON TIME AND PREPARED FOR CLASS 2) STAY IN YOUR SEAT AND RAISE YOUR HAND TO BE CALLED ON 3) USE A RESPECTFUL TONE 4) ELECTRONIC DEVICES, FOOD, DRINK, AND GUM ARE NOT ALLOWED IN CLASS 5) KEEP YOUR HANDS AND FEET TO YOURSELF

Please see syllabus for tardy policy NO PASSES DURING THE FIRST TEN MINUTES AND THE LAST TEN MINUTES OF CLASS Please see syllabus for tardy policy

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS: Failure to comply with the policies may result in parent conferences and/or Administrative referral:   During the instruction/lecture portion of class, each student must give his/her undivided attention to the instructor, guest speakers, and classmates who are recognized to speak. Students with their heads down and/or not participating will receive a zero for that day. Food and beverages , including chewing gum, are not allowed in the classroom at any time. Restrooms are to be used before and after class. Electronics must be turned off, and put away. Electronics will be confiscated if seen or heard. Take pride in the way our classroom and school appear. Do not leave paper or trash on the floor or desk. Do not write on the desk or walls.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS Each student must bring his /her required materials to every day. NO EXCEPTIONS. Be in your class assigned seat prior to the bell ringing and ready to work. If you are not in your assigned seat when the bell rings, you will be marked tardy. Physical and verbal abuses are not allowed in our classroom. Personal matters must be taken care of during lunch period, before, or after school. No passes. Students must adhere to all county and school rules.   Please review the Student Code and Conduct found on the Broward County School website.

Academic Dishonesty: If a student involved in any form of academic dishonesty, he or she will receive a grade of a zero! The following are examples of academic dishonesty: Giving or receiving information before, during, or after test. Using prohibited materials or aids during test or for an assignment. Putting your name on anyone else’s work. Plagiarism of any kind.

1) Every member of each group is responsible for all work. COOPERATIVE GROUP RULES 1) Every member of each group is responsible for all work. 2) If you are not participating in the group work, your grade will be negatively affected. 3) If there is a disagreement, form a consensus, not a majority rule. Be constructive. 4) Be open to other members' ideas and encourage their participation. Make sure no one is left out. 5) Every week one member of each group is designated as the facilitator. The facilitator is not in charge of the group, but simply keeps the group organized on a particular day.

Group Member Responsibilities    Group facilitator: moderates discussions, keeps the group on task, assures work is done by all, and makes sure all have opportunity to participate and learn, takes the group through the activity steps, presents the answers/projects to the whole class.  Timekeeper: monitors time and moves group along so that they complete the task in the available time, keeps area clean, assumes role of any missing group member if there is no wildcard member.

Group Member Responsibilities   Recorder: coordinates the writing of the group, takes notes of the group's discussion, writes down the answers, and prepares a written conclusion.   Equipment manager: picks up, distributes, collects, turns in, and puts away materials. Checker and Wildcard: makes sure that all group members understand the concepts and the group's conclusion and assumes role of any missing member.

PROCEDURES There are several procedures that we will implement during our classroom time as we go forwards with our lessons. Listed below are the main procedures. Beginning of class procedures: Quietly walk into the classroom. Take your seat. Turn off and put away your electronic devices. Have your journal, your pen or pencil, book, and materials ready Hand in your completed homework to the equipment manager who will place it in the homework basket. Read the agenda Begin BELLWORK assignment on your own quietly.

End of class procedures: Return your books and materials that we keep in the class to the equipment managers who are responsible to put them back to their original place. Fix your desk. Clean your area and dispose any trash. You are to remain seated until I dismiss the class. The bell does not dismiss the class. You do not dismiss the class. The teacher dismisses the class. Thank you.

HIGH FIVE PROCEDURE Eyes on speaker Quiet Be still Hands free (put things down) Listen

GENERAL Ask for Help - During individual and whole class activity, raise your hand to ask for help. - During group work, you will ask your group members for help first. If they cannot help, you raise your hand to ask for my help. Homework Procedure Hand in your completed homework to the equipment manager who will place it in the homework basket at the beginning of the class. Passing papers: If you are sitting in rows, you will pass the papers across the rows. If you are sitting in groups, you will pass you paper to the equipment manager. Bathroom Procedure You will need to use the restroom between classes. If it is an emergency to use the bathroom, you will request permission from the teacher and take the yellow pass.

You are not allowed to sharpen your pencil when someone is speaking in the class because it is too noisy. Note taking You are required to take notes throughout the class. Make up work Check the make- up folder and the school website for the missing assignment. See syllabus for make- up policy.
