Presentation transcript:

with Mrs. Wall

 Demonstrate correct posture and position at the keyboard to avoid repetitive stress injury.  Apply correct techniques for touch-typing on the computer keyboard and keypad.  Improve keyboarding speed to at least 30 words per minute with 95% accuracy.  Proofread and correct keyed material.  Format documents for personal and business use.

 Keyboarding Practice – 15%  You will be assigned a certain number of practice minutes each day worth 10 points.  One point will be deducted for every 5 minutes you are short of the assigned time.  Any time over the assigned time will be “banked” to apply to absences.  Any extra “banked” time at the end of the nine weeks counts as extra credit toward your course grade.

 Classwork – 30%  Classwork are assignments given to you to complete during class time.  They are due at the end of class on the day they are assigned.  A reduction in grade can be expected if the assignment is not completed during class time.  NOTE: Classwork assigned when a substitute teacher is in the classroom counts double the normal grade.

 Homework – 20%  You are expected to complete 30 minutes of keyboarding practice outside of class each week which will count as a homework grade. Any time over 30 minutes will be “banked” to apply to absences or extra credit.  Assignments relating to other topics covered in class will also be made.  Homework is due the day after it is assigned. A 10% reduction in grade for the assignment will be applied for each day it is late.

 Assessments/Tests – 35%  Beginning the fourth week of the course, you will begin taking weekly speed and accuracy assessments on the keyboard and 10-key pad.  Tests and quizzes covering other topics learned will also be given.

 We will be learning new skills and content every day.  You get at least two free days each week – Saturday and Sunday. Don’t ask for or expect more! If we have school, we have work to do!  If you miss a day, check the web site to see what you need to do. School Board policy regarding makeup work applies to all absences.

Do Your Own Work  There is a difference between helping and cheating. When you “help”, you explain or demonstrate to someone how something is done and let them do it on their own. When you “cheat”, you do the work for them.  If you are caught cheating, you will share the assignment grade with all students involved.
