2 APPLIED TECHNOLOGY This ten week class is designed to be hands-on and project based. You will complete at least one project. You will be working in the drafting classroom, woodshop, and technology lab throughout the class. You will be held accountable for being in class everyday, on time, ready to work, with all necessary supplies and tools. PENCIL! Due to the nature of this course, many of the assignments and projects cannot be made outside the building.

4 RICHARDS MIDDLE SCHOOL It is important to note that every student is expected to not only follow Richards Middle School policies and rules, but also the policies and responsibilities given in this class. Students who demonstrate a lack of respect towards myself and/or others may be removed from the class. All students are given equal opportunities to demonstrate proper and safe behaviors.

6 Respect everyone and everything Always wear safety glasses No talking when teacher is talking No negativity or putdowns No horseplay No phone usage.(I will take it)

7 This class is always in a yellow zone. Ipads may be used prior to me starting class. Must be off when I start class. Must not be in use unless instructed. Ipads will be taken when used without permission. They will be parked on the counter everyday when the bell sounds for the remainder of the course.

8 In the event the policies are not practiced and an unacceptable behavior occurs the following consequences are in effect: DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES: 1st. offense: verbal warning, 2 nd. offense: verbal warning, 3 rd. offense: immediate removal from classroom, 2 lunchtime detentions

9 Late Work If an excused absence occurs you are responsible for getting the missed work. Missed wood shop work must be made up after school. Fill out a late slip when turning late work into the shelf. Zap rules are in affect.

10 All work must be turned in to ensure you are ready to work in the shop. Zero’s equal no working. Better late then never.

11 TARDY POLICY 1 st Tardy and 2 nd Tardy- warning 3 rd Tardy – citizenship grade goes down one step and student- parent-teacher contact Every 6th. tardy it goes down another step, office referral.(big trouble) TARDINESS You are tardy for class if you enter the room 30 secs. after the bell. Please do not ask if you are tardy, you will be informed

12 WHEN I NEED YOU TO BE QUIET I will say “MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE” you are to immediately stop what you are doing, look at me and listen. WHEN I NEED YOUR ATTENTION IN THE SHOP I will turn off the shop lights- please stop what you are doing and listen for instructions.

13 Grades The grades you will receive in this class will be on a total point system. All assignments will have a specific number of total points possible. Your grade will be determined by how many points you earned compared to the total points possible. Your goal is to acquire as many points as possible to achieve high grades. Not only will tests, quizzes, assignments and projects determine your grade, shop safety, work habits, citizenship and cooperation will also influence your grade.

14 60% of your grade will be based on tests, quizzes and projects. 40% of your grade will be based on homework and class work.

15 TAKING CARE OF YOUR CLASSROOM Everyone is responsible for making sure the rooms are kept clean and neat. I will inform you to clean up your area several minutes before dismissal. All students must be quietly seated and the room must be neat and clean at the end of the hour. I will dismiss the class at the end of each hour. Let’s have a great year and have fun.

16 CLASSROOM DISMISSAL PROCEDURE - Mrs. Nagy tells class to “clean up” - Stand up,Push chair in - Leave when teacher dismisses you, not when the bell rings.

Technology lab, and wood shop. I acknowledge that it is a privilege I share with others and that there is a shared trust among us to keep the equipment in good operating condition. I pledge to check the equipment assigned to me immediately at the beginning of each class and inform the teacher of any damage or problems that may exist. My signature below acknowledges my pledge that I will not intentionally damage or disable the equipment in the classroom nor behave in a manner which might lead to accidental damage. My signature on the line below acknowledges that I understand the rules and policies covered in the classroom presentation. I understand that I may be held responsible for any intentional damage I may cause to the equipment I use.
