Science - Expectations and Course Structure WALT –   Explain what to expect or the following year WILF – List in the first page of copy books of all class and personal expectations

What to expect from me, your teacher Classroom set up in a warm welcoming manner Teaching Point (TP) clearly displayed for every lesson Display Walls/Bulletin Boards at all times filled with posters or students’ work (never blank) revolving: fresh work put up as soon as possible headings used when possible posters need to be A3 size

What to expect from me, your teacher 360 Degree Behaviour Poster and EMS Mission & ESLRS up and talked about often Classroom reward systems in place

Grading: Homework Diaries: Meaningful feedback given, not just a grade Teachers to use a red marking pen Homework Diaries: Thoroughly checked and signed by all Form teachers each week by Thursday Use as a form of communication with parents

What I expect of you as students Workbooks: How do they look? Date written on top right hand side Students to use either blue or black pens only Pencils for mathematics allowed Lines ruled Unacceptable negative doodling documented Worksheets are to be pasted in books or placed in personal folder/ class ring binder.

Classroom left clean and tidy Students trained to tuck in their own chairs

What more should I expect from you? How do you think you should behave in class The work you are set The homework you are given? Discuss with your neighbours and each group give me 4 or 5 rules we can follow Students work in groups and then come together to develop a set of class guidelines. These are then written at the front of their copy books, on the front page.

Course structure 3 Terms / year 9 units / year 3 units / term (Biology, Physics, Chemistry)

Each unit consists of: - End of unit test Plus 5 other assessed piece of works 2x Classroom Assessment 2 x Homework Assessment 1 x Practical Assessment ANY assessed homework that is handed in late will either be severely down-graded or torn up.

End of Unit Tests All questions are taken from past SAT papers. I will give you a link where you can download all of the papers All you need to do is go through the papers and look for questions that are relevent to the topic that we are covering Mark schemes are included http://freesatspapers.blogspot.com/2009/11/sats-papers-and-mark-schemes.html
