3 All About Me... Teacher in the district for 18 years.
Degrees in Math and Education at Trenton State College (now TCNJ) Mom of 3 Excited to be your child’s teacher Focused on getting your children to be independent learners that are actively engaged in lessons.

4 Homeroom (Students should arrive on time)
Homeroom is a time for attendance, check in homework, copy the agenda, hand in notes and do the morning work. Students can buy breakfast during this time. Please send in a note, rather than , if your child’s dismissal procedure is different than normal. In the event of my absence, the substitute would not be aware.

5 Math Period (60 minutes) Go Math
There is one large workbook that has classwork and homework in it. Homework is ripped out each day and put in the blue folder. Upcoming tests will be listed on the agenda and a reminder text will be sent out. Students can access the GoMath program online at Login: lunch password is St#lunchnumber Example: Password is St#12345 The student workbook, videos and additional resources on online. Please log in as your child and check it out. Timed fact tests will be given weekly. Incorrect or blank answers will become additional homework that night. I look for improvement each week. Students will track their progress.

6 Social Studies Content:
We will use this block of time to learn both subject matter and review strategies while reading and writing informational texts. 5th grade Social Studies covers continents/oceans and from early explorers through the American Revolution. Students will occasionally be assigned a Scholastic News to complete at home. Achieve 3000 articles relating to our content.

7 Homework We review homework and class work daily. It is the student’s responsibility to self-check their own work, as we go over it, and make corrections where needed. They must have a colored pen. It is the student’s responsibility to copy their homework from the agenda board each morning and update it throughout the day if necessary. Teachers do not check agenda books (unless set up by a parent). If you write a note to me in the agenda, ask your child to show it to me. Homework folders (blue) and agenda books should go home daily.

8 Homework (continued)... Late homework should be handed in, but will result in a lower grade. After two days it is considered a zero. All work must be shown for credit. If needed, attach a separate piece of paper. Students earn a $/day for homework. They are also charged a $ if they didn’t complete the hw assignment or they are unprepared. Most homework is graded on a check system: ✓ + = 95% ✓ = 80% ✓ - = 65% 0 = 0 %

9 Class work: Class work is assigned and students are given ample time to complete it. If a student does not finish an assignment, it is their responsibility to finish it, and hand it in. Late assignments will be given a lower mark. Grading System: A: B: C: D: F: Below 70 Parent Portal is open to parents. Please check it periodically.

10 General Information: A proper heading is required for all assignments to receive full credit (Full name, #, date). Papers get sent home daily. It is your child’s responsibility to take their “mail” from their mailbox before dismissal each day. Keep these papers at home unless they are marked “Sign and Return.” All math tests are to be returned. Students get two days to get a signature. 23 students are in the class if you’d like to send in birthday treats. Invitations should not be passed out for parties in school unless all are invited.

11 Being Absent/Early Pickup:
Students are given time to make up assignments due to being absent. 1 day absent = 1 day to make it up, 2 days = 2 days to make it up, … It is the student’s responsibility to inquire about missed assignments. A “buddy” will fill in what was missed on an absent form, but the absent student must get the extra paperwork from the “extra” bin. Paper copies cannot be left at their desk while they are out because another student sits there too. Please send in a note, rather than , if your child’s dismissal is different than normal. In the event of my absence, the substitute will not be aware.

12 Classroom Management:
Positive behavior is rewarded with praise, “money”, and/or a special privilege. Class rules Listen when others are talking. Follow directions. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Work quietly and do not disturb others. Show respect for school and personal property. Work and play in a safe manner. If a student is disruptive… 1st offense: warning* 2nd offense: move seat* 3rd offense: contact home* Severe clause: principal’s office/discipline form* *: $1 will be taken for each disruption

13 Thank you for coming!
