Chromebook 101

Logging onto your Chromebook: 1) Press the “power” button located on the top right corner. 2) Your device should turn on automatically, already connected to the internet. 3) Once the “Sign In” screen appears, type in your school email address and your password. a) Signing In: first initial, last name, six digit student / lunch number @muhsdstudents.org (example: jdoe123456@muhsdstudents.org) b) Common mistakes: 1) not knowing student ID, 2) forgetting to add an “s” to “students”

Accessing your Google Apps: 1) Click on the “App” button located on the bottom left side of your screen. 2) This will showcase all of your apps and allow you to access your Google Drive. 3) If you want to add more Apps, just click on the search tab and type in what you are looking for. 4) If you want to learn more about Google Apps, click here

Clicking on a Chromebook: 1) There is no “right click” button on a Chromebook. 2) To open, click on the link/icon that you want to open. 3) To copy / paste, use two fingers and “click” on the word or picture at the same time - select your command when the tool bar appears. 4) To highlight, double click on the word. 5) To scroll up, down, side to side; place two fingers on the pad and move up, down, side to side. 6) If you want to learn more, click here

Signing Out & turning off your Chromebook: 1) Click on the icon on the bottom right of the screen (near the time). 2) Click “Sign Out” 3) Click “Turn off chromebook” located on the bottom left corner of your screen. Need more Basic Tips? Click here to be redirected to “Tour of your Chromebook”

Troubleshooting Issues and problems with chromebook CAUTION: You MUST try to troubleshoot your own problem first BEFORE raising your hand and contacting me. I will specifically ask you what is wrong and what have you already done to try to fix it.

Not connecting to the Internet 1) Look on to see if internet is on (check this by looking at the bottom right hand corner of the screen). connected to the internet not connected to the internet 2) Click on the icon to make it connect and for a list of internet connections that are near you. 3) Find the WiFi portal in the classroom (located on the top of the ceiling in AG1 near the back right hand corner).

Blue Light: means everyone should have WiFi and there should not be any connection issues. Green Light: means that something is wrong and NO ONE has connection. Blinking Green Blue Light: wait for it ---- wifi is warming up. 4) If you see a Blue Light and you are still having issues, restart your computer. 5) If you try all of these and NOTHING is happening, please raise your hand.

No Volume on Chromebook 1) Look at the top right side of your keyboard 2) You will see three buttons; No volume, less volume, more volume. no volume   less more

3) Clicking on “No Volume” will turn the volume back on 3) Clicking on “No Volume” will turn the volume back on. Clicking “More Volume” will increase the volume. 4) If you have a problem and the volume still isn’t working, try to restart your computer. 5) If this problem persists, raise your hand.

Screen is too dull / bright 1) At the top of your keyboard you have two icons that are in the shape of a circle; one circle is large and one is small. 2) To increase the brightness, press on the larger circle 3) To decrease the brightness, press on the smaller circle
