3 Turning It On Open the lid.
Press the on/off button at the top right of the keyboard.

4 Logging in Is Easy! Type in your new email address.
Enter your password. Click “Sign in” or push Enter. address for students is address for teachers is MPCS login Temporary password is usually Password1

5 Simply move your finger across the touchpad.

6 Learning the Navigation Tools
Use the trackpad to open a new tab in Chrome by tapping the tab icon once. As we learn features of the trackpad, practice using them to navigate the MCPS site. Double-clicking a word in Chrome shows the definition and pronunciation. Have students open the MCPS web page at to practice the navigation tools as we learn them in the next few slides.

Place two fingers on the track pad and move them up and down or left and right.

Click on the first letter of the text to highlight. Using a second finger, drag the cursor to the end of the text.

10 Right-clicking to Open the Command Menu:
Using the Trackpad Right-clicking to Open the Command Menu: Click the touchpad once with two fingers.

11 Useful Chrome Tools Double-click a word. What happens?
Highlight a text selection. Use two fingers to right-click on highlighted text. Choose “Read the Selected Text” or “Speak Text.” How can this help you? Double-clicking a word in Chrome shows the definition and pronunciation.

12 How Do I Change the Volume?

13 Opening Google Drive or Google Apps
Click on the tiles icon in the bottom corner. Click to select Google Drive or an educational app. Click on the gray horizontal lines to page through additional apps.

14 Shutting Down Your Chromebook
Click in the bottom right-hand corner of your Chromebook where the time is displayed to open the shutdown menu. Click the Power icon to shutdown. You can also check how much time is left on your battery here. Can show how to sign out at top of menu.

15 Now that you know the basics… … a new world of learning awaits!
