College Credit Plus (CCP) CCP is a program that provides an opportunity for high school students to take college courses during high school at no cost to the family Private colleges may include cost per credit hour. Introductory notes.

Who can participate in CCP? Students who are motivated and mature Students who are academically strong Students who want to explore academic areas that may not be available at GHS Students who have the time to devote to college courses Students in grades 7-12 who meet admissions criteria & prerequisites for desired courses Student must apply to the college or university for College Credit Plus. Objectives for instruction and expected results and/or skills developed from learning.

Breaking Down CCP Benefits Risks Earn up to 30 credits per school year (depending on high school course load) Receive both high school and college credit 1 high school credit for 3 semester hours at college Weighted GPA if AP course offered in same subject area at GHS Can begin in the summer (but not used for athletic eligibility) Risks Not all colleges accept CCP credit Transcripted credit cannot be denied regardless of grade earned Starting college transcript that must be reported to any college you will matriculate to If course is failed, costs must be reimbursed by student/family or if dropped after the CCP institution’s withdraw date Athletic eligibility for OHSAA & NCAA Beginning course details and/or books/materials needed for a class/project.

Eligibility Requirements at Public Colleges/Universities The Ohio State University-Newark Completed application by May 1 including essay, transcript, and high school counselor form ACT scores: 18 English, 22 Math, 22 Reading OR… SAT scores: 480 Reading & 530 Math Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) Completed application including transcript and high school form ACT scores: 21 English, 22 Math OR… SAT scores: 450 in Reading, 430 in Writing, & 520 in Math Met all prerequisites for course requirements A schedule design for optional periods of time/objectives.

Eligibility Requirements at Private Colleges/Universities It is up to private institutions to decide whether they wish to participate in CCP or another program to allow high school students to take college courses Mount Vernon Nazarene University Completed application, transcript, health form, and parent and school counselor certification by April 1 ACT scores: 19 composite, plus 18 English, 22 Reading, and 22 Math Minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA Attend New Student Orientation in June A schedule design for optional periods of time/objectives.

An alternative option to CCP Take AP classes to try to earn AP credit that can transfer to college Denison University’s Licking County Scholars Program Does not fall under CCP Typically for 12th grade students only and will apply to one course 3.4 GPA Cost is 1/5 the tuition of regular Denison student Credit listed on GHS transcript as received by GHS under credit flexibility option A list of procedures and steps, or a lecture slide with media.

Next steps… Intent to Participate form for CCP due by April 1 If not turned in and later decide to apply, permission to take the course would need to be obtained from Superintendent, Jeff Brown. Abide by all application requirements and deadlines for the CCP institution All books must be returned to GHS unless the family chooses to purchase them from the school district An opportunity for questions and discussions.
