Where can I get help with my IT? You can contact ServiceLine in a number of ways: iSolutions website – Getting Help www.southampton.ac.uk/isolutions Online – search for answers to our most commonly asked questions and use our ‘How to Guides’ within the Knowledge Base on iSolutions website. Online - Submit an online request for help on the iSolutions website. Telephone Call 25656 or 023 8059 5656 In Person Visit the IT helpdesk in the Hartley Library, B59 (Zepler) Level 3 Computing Lab or B46 RM 4117. You can submit an online request for help via the iSolutions web site under the Request IT Help tab and someone will be in contact to deal with your request. If your request is urgent, for example you have forgotten your password, then please call us using one of the numbers listed. http://www.southampton.ac.uk/isolutions/getting-help/index.page is the Getting Help page. You should also look at the iSolutions website as it is a great source of help and you may be able to find the answer to question or problem there. To find out more about the IT services of the University and how to access and use them, please see http://www.southampton.ac.uk/isolutions/students/im-new.page For FPSE students and staff have access to an IT help desk in B59 level 3 computing lab. The desk is manned by 2 people a member of iSolutions and can help with general question and quires. The a 3rd year student during term time that can help with programming queries. How do I access my emails? How do I connect to the free WiFi? Connect to Eduroam Coverage in University buildings including Library, workstation rooms and Halls of Residence. Use your full username (including @soton.ac.uk) and password Further information available from: go.soton.ac.uk/wifi You can connect your own device, including laptop, iPad, iPad, Windows Phone and Android device, to the University wifi network. Software is available from Additional Software icon on desktop You can request other software to via ServiceLine. Are there any online training courses? As a student or member of staff at the University of Southampton, you have access to Lynda.com Lynda.com gives you access to thousands of online courses, from Excel to photography and accountancy to interview skills. iSolutions – your IT support service Staying Safe Online Every day the University blocks up to 500,000 daily spam and phishing emails – but some will still get through. Ignore any email asking for your email account details and passwords. Never give up bank or financial details if requested. Do not respond to emails from unknown sources, as your response will validate your email account. Do not open attachments or click on links from unknown sources. Emails offering financial, physical or emotional benefits, often linked to a variety of frauds. Having a sense of urgency that you must take action or your account will be suspended.
