Mrs. Jones’ Classroom Contract Guidelines Procedures

Guideline #1 Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned bellwork when the tardy bell rings.

Guideline #2 Bring ALL books and required materials to class AND take them with you when you leave.

Guideline #3 Treat each person in this classroom with dignity and respect. Do NOT use ANY profanity.

Guideline #4 Follow instructions the FIRST time they are given. Listen carefully to ALL directions.

Guideline #5 Raise your hand and wait to be acknowledged before speaking. [Acknowledged=Mrs. Jones calling your name]

Guideline #6 Absolutely NO food, drink, gum, or candy permitted.

Guideline #7 This is NO COMPLAINING ZONE!!! This means there will be no complaining for any reason. Everything I do is in your best interest, so please respect the “No Complaining Zone” this year.

When you are tardy . . . Have a seat and take out Go to Attendance for tardy slip Enter Classroom quietly Place tardy slip in basket in front of the room Excused or Unexcused: Sign Tardy sheet Have a seat and take out your materials.

Tardy to Class Students are expected to be in their 1st period/designated areas and seated by 7:15 a.m. Students with multiple (more than one) tardies in a day will be seen by the grade level administrator for more further consequences based on progressive discipline. Consequences Detention (If no show, then student will receive a Saturday School. If there are multiple no shows, then further progressive discipline measures will be issued.) Turning in Papers Place your paper on the desk next to you. [LEFT SIDE] If/When you receive a paper, place yours on top and continue passing the stack to your left. Mrs. Jones will tell a volunteer to place it in the specific folder of the day.

Classroom Discussions PLEASE participate. I want to hear what you have to say. Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion. Follow Guidelines for specific discussion types-Socratic Seminar and Philosophical Chairs. If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.

Moving Around the Room You must ask permission. Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency.

Class Dismissal “You’re dismissed. Have a great day!” Mrs. Jones dismisses you, not the bell. Do not start packing up prior to the bell. Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with “You’re dismissed. Have a great day!”

From Mrs. Jones… Your past doesn’t determine your future! I expect you to do great things in this class and know the potential is inside each one of you!
