The basics Your category of membership for the NTU Library is Associate Reader – allowing you to borrow 4 books at a time Photocopying using visitor photocopy card (from Information Desk) and top-up machines You have to pay fines if you bring books back late Only PC use in Library is for searching the Library catalogue from ‘Look and Book’ PCs (see floor plans) 20 April 2018
Finding items Books & Audio Visual search on Library OneSearch- http://los.ntu.ac.uk Provides details of availability and location under ‘Locations & Requests’ 3 week, 1 week and overnight loans As Associate Readers you can borrow 4 books at a time Books can be requested after a week by other users – email reminder Finding Print Journals – Use ‘Journals by Title’ then click on ‘Available in the Library’ on left. These can only be read in the library, they are located on the Lower Ground Floor. 20 April 2018

Free eJournals via NTU NTU Library’s OneSearch service lists publicly available eJournals by subject area. To see a list of free eJournals, follow the steps below: Go to Library OneSearch: http://los.ntu.ac.uk Click on eJournal A-Z at top of page At next page click on Locate Select Free eJournals as Vendor and an appropriate subject Category. Click Go to browse through the titles of all free eJournals in that category, OR, enter a word in the title box, select the “contains” option and then press Go. Example: eSearch Find a Journal Search by publisher or ISSN Vendor = Free eJournals Category = Law – 277 hits As above, but title CONTAINS human rightes – 5 hits 20 April 2018

Support and help Information Desk – ground floor Telephone Customer Services on 0115 848 2175 Email – libinfodirect@ntu.ac.uk Any member of staff in the library will help, but the primary help point is the Information desk. This is always staffed during opening hours. You can also contact us by telephone and email, and at the start of the new academic year we’ll have something called “Information Direct” which is an instant messaging service which will let you chat online with library staff. 20 April 2018
