10 You don’t need a separate printing card. Your student card is all you need for printing Do I need a printing card?

11 How do I print? Tap your card on one of the multi functional devices and your ID card will link up with that machine and enable you to print See IMT webpages for further details

12 How do I top up my print account? You can top up your print account in one of the cash value loaders, at the Copyshop or online

13 How do I get help with printing? The IMT Walk in Centre is on the first floor of the Library or check out the IT guides

14 Searching for resources Log onto your account -> Search for the item by Title or Author

15 Searching for resources Adjust your search criteria with options on the left -> click on needed material.

16 Searching for resources Make a note of the collection the material is held in -> write down the Classmark (HB171 B41)

17 Searching for resources Click “Locations” to see what areas of the Library We hold the material -> check availability of book.

19 How can I borrow? You can borrow using the self service machines in the Course or Main collection Make sure you are using the machines in the right location. Course collection books can only be borrowed in the Course collection

20 How can I renew You can renew online once you have logged into your library account

21 Why can’t I borrow or renew? You cant borrow or renew if you have overdue material or if the books have been on your account for 52 weeks

22 Where do I pick up my requested items? You can pick up your Course collection requested items in the Course collection directly in front of the turnstiles Main collection items and Inter Library loans can be picked up from the Service counter

23 How do I return books? You can return books via the Self Service machines Make sure you return the books to the correct self service machine (Course or Main collection) Follow the instructions on the screen to make sure you place the book on the correct trolley

24 Online account Log into your online account via the LSE website. This will give you a Summary of your Library account. From here you can renew your books, see the status of requested books and view messages on you account.

27 Can I eat in the Library? We don’t allow eating in the Library under any circumstances It encourages mice, stains books and desks and can cause disruption to other Students Feel free to bring drinks into the Library

28 Having trouble finding a book? Firstly check you are in the correct location Make sure the book hasn’t been borrowed by someone else Check the nearby reshelving stack If you still cant find it, ask us for help

29 Can I leave my belongings in the Library? Although the Library is a safe environment, we don’t recommend you leaving your belongings unattended under any circumstances

30 Do I always need my student card? Yes you always need your student card To Borrow books Enter the course collection Print documents Exit the Library

32 What does this mean? Course Collection Collection on the ground floor containing books that are essential reading Reservation/Hold You can place a reservation to obtain a book that is on loan to someone else Classmark/Shelfmarks Code on the book that helps you find its location Recall/Requested The book in your possession has been requested/recalled

33 What does this mean? Periodicals Another term for journal Inter Library Loans Items not available in our library that may be requested from elsewhere Zones Areas of the library focused on particular types of study Catalogues Computers that you use to search for resources
