Staying Clean, Staying Healthy A look at personal hygiene for boys. Staying Clean, Staying Healthy

Like it or not, your body is changing Like it or not, your body is changing. These changes happen as you get older and need special care. Today, we will discuss how to care for our bodies as we grow.

Why should I care? Being clean stops the spread of germs and keeps you from getting sick. When your body is clean, you may feel better about yourself and others will appreciate it

Items you need to care for yourself… Comb/brush Shampoo Toothbrush Tooth paste floss Soap DEODORANT! If you need any of these things because you don’t have them at home, please see your nurse or counselor!

Caring for your mouth… Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss once a day, every single day! If you have braces, you may need to brush more often. Follow your orthodontist’s directions. Keeping your mouth clean will keep you from having bad breath!

Caring for your body… Body odor is unappealing and the best way to prevent it is to keep yourself clean! You should shower or bathe everyday, using soap to wash all parts of your body. Change your clothes daily. Each day you should wear clean sock and underwear. Change out of clothes that are sweaty and wash them before wearing them again. Wash your face daily, especially if you have been sweating. Wash your hands often, and keep your fingernails and toenails clipped and neat.

A word about deodorant… One word: EVERYDAY!! Everyone sweats. It’s normal. However, your sweat has an odor that is unpleasant. Deodorant covers up that smell and dries up sweat. Deodorant can be a roll on or a spray. Both of them work fine IF YOU USE THEM CORRECTLY! Let’s all learn a little dance…

Hygiene is IMPORTANT! Keeping your body clean will help you feel great about yourself, more confident, and keep you from getting sick. Having a clean, healthy body is also a positive things to those around you. If you have any questions about personal care products or need help in anyway, please talk with your family. If you need to talk to your nurse or school counselor, we are also available to help you with your personal care needs.
