2 What is Good grooming? Grooming is taking care of your body and appearance, Examples: Keeping your teeth, skin, hair, or nails clean and healthy. The are of cleaning, grooming and maintaining parts of the body.

3 OMG I’m going through puberty!!!!!!!!!
Body changes in puberty Change in hormones Change in height and weight Growth of body hair (this causes you to sweat) Change in sweat glands Many other changes

4 Sweating it out Sweating has an important job – it helps to cool your body down when you are hot. We have two to four million sweat glands all over our bodies. Thanks to the onset of puberty (ages 10 – 13), these glands become more active than before and begin to secrete different chemicals into the sweat that has a strong smelling odor. How do you know if you have unpleasant body odor? People with unpleasant body odor are unable to smell their body odor. You may have an unpleasant smell if you do not shower or bathe at least once a day. If you do not change clothes and undergarments daily. Air out shoes and socks to avoid stinky fee. Don’t panic though. Sweat and smells are normal parts of growing up.

5 Getting rid of the smell
Shower or take a bath every day. Wearing clean clothes, socks, and underwear each day can also help you to feel clean. If you are concerned with the smell of your underarms, you can use deodorant or deodorant with antiperspirant. Deodorants get rid of the odor of sweat by covering it up. Remember: Perfumes and deodorant are not a good substitute for a shower or bath.

6 Clean healthy hair Acne can start in your early teen years because your body is making more oil glands. The same oil that causes acne on your face also comes out of the pores in your scalp. If your hair is oily, wash it every day. Wash regularly with shampoo. Massage your scalp well. This will remove dead skin cells, excess oil and dirt.

7 Smelly, baaaaad breath Bad breath, is caused by bacteria that grows in your mouth. The bacteria gather on the small food pieces left in your mouth, especially between your teeth. Tips for preventing bad breath: Brush your teeth (and tongue!) for at least 2 minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, especially after meals. Floss every day. Replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. Visit your dentist every 6 months Most importantly BRUSH YOUR TONGUE

8 Let’s Recap please Shower or take a bath every day.
Use deodorant (covers smells) or antiperspirant (decreases sweating), or a product that has both. Remember: Perfumes and deodorant are not a good substitute for a shower or bath. Change your clothes and undergarments daily. Brush your teeth (and tongue!) for at least 2 minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, especially after meals. “Personal hygiene and good grooming is very important because no one likes to be close to a person who stinks and is dirty.
